From what his nurse told me, my LLMD is putting in an order for Primaxin 1g 3 times a day. From what I read, most of you are taking like 500 mg, 2-3 times a day.
Is anyone else taking 1g 3 times a day? My pharmacist said this is w/in the manufacturer's range (up to 4g a day) but 4g is for septiciemia, not lyme. I'm concerned about long term effects on liver and kidneys at 3g.
Thanks,
jloisu

I aimed for that dose but only got up to 750 mg 3X day. I weighed about 100 lbs though... But indeed, that is what was prescribed for me.

What do you mean by you never got to 1g? Did you try it and just have a reaction?
Thanks,
jloisu
Yes, in response to the primaxin I was having trouble breathing that was a flare of symptoms rather than allergy (I had been allergy tested and was taking meds prior to each infusion). At the 1 gm/dose level, the breathing was too bad but I could tolerate it at 750 mg/dose. Again, I'm small so the per bodyweight dose was still solid.
My history is that I pretty much feel like crap the entire time I'm on IV and then start to reap the benefits once I'm off. In short, my reactions are not typical, but hopefully how well I did as a consequence of the Primaxin is more generalizable!
