SHe was really sick and missed school all spring. She is (was on) zithromax/mepron per Dr. J....
She improved over the summer a lot and then took another big downturn after school started. NOw she is home again and getting homebound instruction. (2 hours per week whopee!)
Dr. J changed the zith to Biaxin XL and now she is herxing so I take it as a good sign.
she is missing out on so much, It worries me. She has been sick so long I wonder if she will ever be strong and healthy. It weighs heavy on my heart and mind.

Pattie, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. My 4 year old daughter and 6 year old have this mess as well. My heart goes out to you and you will be in our prayers! Best wishes for a more speedy recovery for both of you! Love, Robin in Houston

Patti, I know exactly what you're going through. I've had Lymes since I was 10 years old and I missed out on my adolescence. I missed a lot of school and grew up very quickly. Since she is already being treated I think there is a great chance that she will be able to manage her pain and lead a normal life. Try to stay optimistic. I know it's hard but if you don't have hope in your heart then she won't either.

Morning Patticake-
Sorry to hear your daughter is not well. It is a parent's nightmare.
I have noticed that my son has had a set back just about this time of year. This is the fourth year in a row. He was on Biaxin since April and was his best ever. His downturn is mild.
My prayer is that Biaxin will quickly get your daughter enjoying life again.

Patti,
Today a lyme internet friend who I have been corresponding with for 8 months (never met) wrote that her daughter will be boarding/attending college 2 hours away from home in the spring.
My friend never thought this would happen because her daughter was so very ill for so many years. No normal youth at all. She once told me they did not have to buy her daughter shoes for three years because her daughter was house/bedridden.
For the past two years her daughter has been able to take a couple courses at the community college each semester. Now she will leave late May for summer semester and the school has already chosen her roommates for the on-campus apartment.
My friend has worked very hard first with the local school district - then with the community college counselors and now....... the new college and her daughter's placement.
She never thought this could ever happen..... have this timeline unfold......but it can happen.
We adults are so fortunate to have this lymenet support!!! We share the good, the bad, the ugly..... nightmares/dreams..... that grasp us in our sleeping and waking.

Pattie, We are all on this roller coaster ride with you! One of the more prominent LLMD's said that though he sees relapses, he feels that they become less fequent and severe as treatment continues. I hold on to that thought and measure recovery by length of time between relapses. And, Valymemom, thank you for sharing your friend's experience. I will tuck that away in my brain and pull it out on those days when hope and spirit begin to sag. A prayer for healthier days for all suffering from this hideous disease!

Pattie cake, Pattie cake,
So sorry about your girl's setback.
I'm glad to hear that she is seeing Dr. J and is therefore in very good hands.
Hard to know what to say.
I just signed up for a dvd mail service that cleans up PG and R movies to make them family friendly. We are really excited as my kids are home and we have seemingly watched what we can see in good conscious. If you are interested, you can pm me. Your kids are a little younger than mine, but still might provide diversion for all.

My heart aches for these kids with lyme, and I can certainly sympathize with your concerns!
Just wanted you to know that my grandson had many ups and downs in his treatment and also was treated by Dr. J. Six years later,I am happy to report that he has been off meds for exactly one year with no sign of relapse. Not sure how long your daughter has been treated, but don't think she will remain this way forever.
Kids have amazing recuperative powers...keep us posted!

Pattiecake, I'm so sorry about your daughter. I see the same doctor as your daughter is seeing, which is a good thing since he is truly a wonderful doctor. Whenever I have an appointment, it's about a two hour visit, wheareas my mother's visit with her lyme doctor in Long Island is only five minutes long. A big difference. Right now, this lyme stuff is hard to overide, but we'll get through it somehow.
