I wonder if anyone tried to improve immune system with accunpucture and what the results were.
I often treat myself with moxabustion (which uses the same points/meridians of acunpuncture)when I get a flue or cold and it works wonderful, so I was wondering if others have tried for lyme...

Hi Selma, I am in a unique situation, as I have not yet been diagnosed by a LLMD, however I believe I am in late stage Lyme (as I've been previously diagnosed and treated 5 times in 14 years).
I started seeing an accupunturist about a month ago for tension/anxiety/stress induced by my symptoms (or so I thought). After a couple of sessions I had made the Lyme deduction and I asked her to treat me for that. Well, I was treated twice by her for Lyme (so far). After the first visit I had a general reduction in symptoms for several days. After the second (last week) I had a major flare-up in symptoms, just like what everyone on the forum here describes as a herx. I am going to see her again this week, as my first LLMD appointment is not until next week. I'll let you know what happens. But suffice it to say that I think there is impact from the treatment. My accupuncturist believes that it is hard if not impossible for a patient to "clear their own blood" as she puts it. However she does believe there is a significant positive immune system response to the treatments. Be well, Kenny

Kenny and his accupuncturist have given a great response. Accupuncture and Shiatsu (massage to the accupuncture points) are worthwhile IMO (even for healthy people). Barb

Selma, I started getting acupuncture last Spring for undx-ed Lyme symptoms (esp. numbness in my foot and swelling and sharp pain in my right knee).
After several treatments, it was actually my acupuncturist who deduced I might have something systemic: "Lyme is my guess," she said. She deduced something that had eluded 12 medical "specialists" previously.
Since then, I've tested CDC positive and been on abx for almost 5 months. In addition to acupuncture, Selma, she also does moxabustion and has given me Chinese herbs and tea to help me detox.
I see her weekly; I also have pretty regular shiatsu. Again, I think all these things help. I've noticed a marked improvement in almost all my symptoms.
Since I'm taking a full array of medication and herbs, I can't know how much of my progress is due to the complimentary therapies...but I know I'm not planning to give them up.
In fact, I have an acupuncture appointment tomorrow.

Thank you all for your answers. It was also an accunpuncture dr. who told me I got very tense muscles in my neck and back she even couldn't stick the needles. The needles just 'jumped' back!
It was the first time for me to do accunpuncture, but I do moxibustion by myself to improve my immune system (it's my only 'medicine' against colds, for example).
I'll try to talk to her next time, although she's about 8 hours drive from home.

I did about 10 session at one chinese MD who also did acupuncture which did very little for me, a year later another 10 sessions at another acupuncturist which did again not very much but may have helped a very little bit.
