I accidentally posted this in the "General Support" area and meant for it to be here... hope someone has some advice for me. Thanks in advance.
Need some advice here. I am in the middle of neurological symptoms that mimic (Lord Willing) ALS. I am 30 years old and was otherwise healthy until June when my rt. hand (fingers/joints) started swelling. I also had pins and needles down the insides of my arms into my hands.
Within three weeks my forearms were tightening up and my arms felt weak in the shoulders. (My calves were also tightening and my quads felt shakey) I went through the gammet of tests and everything was negative. (MRI, CT, EMG etc)
I have internal tremors, twitching, clonus, weakness, memory issues, swallowing issues, inability to sleep, right sided headaches, hate cold, and some shock like stuff internally that's hard to explain.
I am wondering if this is Lyme OR if this could be mercury poisoning. This all started after a cleaning and tooth problem that had me brushing and flossing 7-8 times a day until they fixed it.
I have already consulted with a bio-dentist regarding removal of fillings and will have that done. Wondering what to do in the meantime. LLMD specialist appt Nov. 8th. Any suggestions?

Also- I am on Doxy 400mg/day. Had flu like symptoms for almost a week about 3 weeks into the Abx. Does this mean I should ride out the Lyme treatment before pursuing mercury treatment?

Have you been dxed with lyme? Have you had an appointment with a LLMD?
Your symptoms sound like lyme to me. Start treating that as soon as possible.
If it is something else, you have more time to treat. Metal detox and neuro detox is about the same thing.

Have you had a metals test to know you have an elevated Mercury level? Have you seen a LLMD or specialist adept in metals poisioning?

I couldbe possible that both the mercury and the lyme could be an issue. Mercury causing an immune issue that let the lyme get out of control. A good metal test and lyme test would show what's up. Btu it loks likethere is a response to the ABX. Your symptoms are a lot like the way mie started. I do have some mile metal issues but all my co-infetions and lyme tests showed major activity too.

I have not tested positive for either Lyme or Elevated Mercury at this point. My initial Elisa came back elevated but the MD sent out the WB which came back negative. Initially I thought that meant I didn't have lyme but as my symptoms worsened I made an appt with Dr. J in Mercer Co. and will see him Nov. 8th.
In the meantime I have researched elevated mercury symptoms to see that I really fit the bill for it. With Lyme it seems symptoms CAN present neurologically to mimic ALS like mine have... with mercury toxicity symptoms DO present neurologically.
I feel stuck in the middle. I have ordered a hair analysis so I will know whether or not chelation will be necessary. I am on Doxy and will stay on until Dr. J tells me to do differently. I will have my fillings removed and will detox.
Maybe Dr. J will have info regarding how much detox I can do at the same time I am treating Lyme. (Supposing he thinks I have Lyme... at this point... I don't know what is going on with me.)
Thanks for the responses. I am grateful for all thoughts. Michelle

Yes, Michele, it's a confusing dilema. I have both and it's hard to know what's causing what. I'm treating both to cover all bases. They are both very stubborn and hard to eradicate. Takes Time, to say the least.
