There is a practicioner 3 miles from me and I went to a session this morning. She said my body is really responsive to the therapies. She told me that by tomorrow I will either be more energetic or more fatigued, depending on how my body does with the toxins released.

Am interested in hearing from anyone else who has done this. For me, it's only $20 for an hour session, so certainly cheaper than lots of this other stuff I do. Plan to give it a month trial to see if it helps.

Hey, Connie
I've had a lot of success with complimentary therapies -- especially acupuncture and massage.

My shiatsu practitioner is licensed in touch for health (don't know if it's the same) -- more energy-work than actual hands-on treatment.

It's come in handy when my neurological symptoms have been so severe that I can't stand anyone anywhere near me.

Besides, you've gotta love anything that only costs $20 an hour [Wink]

You are right about that! All the $$$ I have spent, and it's the alternative stuff which does help me the most. Healing Touch is energy work. I do not completely understand it. But she certainly did say that my body was very receptive and she could immediately feel the "balance" being created. Two years ago, I would have run the other way, but now, after having had some success with nutritional therapies and supplements and herbs, I am a true believer.

I plan to give it a month, at least once a week, possibly more, depending on how it goes.

Connie, we've got to do what we've got to do to help OUR body cope. Sure this healing is not a cure, but if it helps you and gives you some relief, that's great.

You've got to look outside the box on this one and some people just aren't open to alternative things.

Take care, Pam

I did not have a good experience with the healing touch stuff. Didn't seem to do anything for me. I felt a little "duped" afterwards. I'm not saying it doesn't work, it just didn't do anything for my situation. Good luck...

I do believe in the altenative therapies as an adjunct. Reiki and Jin shin do have helped me.

I think getting well goes far,far beyond antibiotics and western medicine. It is about rebalancing the body. That involves a different mix for each person.

Abx and alternative therapies and exercise and eating well have been part of my recovery. (Still not there but making progress)

Do what feels good ....... anything that offers pain relief even if temporary, is helpful.

Acupuncture is great!

ConnieMc,

It's one thing to go to a doctor who doesn't understand Lyme disease b/c he wasn't taught it in school, or he learned incorrect information there, or to take non-prescribed herbs that have proven medicinal value. But healing touch is tantamount to voodoo or phrenology. Please save your money and your time. "Alternative therapies" doesn't include superstition and con games.

I checked out the website www.healingtouch.net and many of the practioners are nurses. Also, there is ongoing research to test its effectiveness. (By such well known organizations as Harvard and the NIH.) I have never tried it myself so I can not attest to this particular method's effectiveness. I do receive tuina (Chinese massage that uses the acupuncture points) on a weekly basis and it has made a tremendous difference in my life. I definitely believe in the energy pathways of the body and how they can affect health.

ConnieMc, I think you should definitely give it a try and then make up your own mind how effective it is for you. All you have to lose is the $20.

Take care,
Ms. Myo

I vote with Ms Myo. At 20.00 per session, give it a try. Even temporary relief would be worth that price.

My daughter has been having QiGong therapy the lst year. Of all the alternative therapy she has done she said this has helped her symptoms themost. I think traditional and alternative therapy together can only help.

I've tried a lot of alternative therapies. All I can say is be careful. If you get someone who projects their own energy at you, the potential is certainly there to mess you up worse. Then, the only people that can undo the mess are alternative people.

I got in this and it's a very expensive, painful and long process.

I never believed in or understood the whole energy thing, before lyme. It is real and a very powerful force in your body.
