Hi all!

Long story short, very sick 6 yrs. Last year went on Doxy for Lyme- got much worse and never got any better from the worse, Babs suspected. Artemisinin for several months (Dr afraid antibiotics could kill me. I was that bad!) Now have been on Zithromax and Mepron for five months. Have had a lot of improvement (for the 1st time ever), but still so sick! Dr says I should not take the two for anymore than 4 weeks longer (total 6 mo). There was one time, about a month ago, when I went without the Zithromax and Mepron due to pharmacy dumbies. After week without, had MAJOR slip to horrible. So, now I'm afraid of ever going off them again, but dr will take me off in four weeks. I'm not sure if he's planning to try Doxy again or what. I'm still so ill, I DREAD any relapse to even worse! Any input? Suggestions?
Take care,
Beth [Frown]

Hi Beth,

I think you should find an LLMD. Perhaps this doctor is more worried about himself than about you.

Hi Bethanie!

I know the doctor you are talking about. He tends to worry about how his patients will tolerate things. It is a genuine concern, based on his naturopathic background, but it sometimes makes him back off from treatment when it isn't necessary.

First, I have some thoughts on how you could encourage him to continue the Mepron/Zith if it is helping. E-mail me and I'll give you some ideas.

Second, there are lots of options other than doxy. For many people doxy is a hard med, and doesn't help.

I'm glad to hear you found something that is helping!! [Smile]

Hi bethanie70,

I am glad you found something that is helping you.

My personal experiance: I have been on Malarone, plaquenil and Zithromax for over a year for Babesia, so far it's working.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies and info. I do have a LLMD and he is geniunely doing his best. He just seems to think that 6 months or so is enough of the Mepron/Zithromax. I'll have to pay the large $$$ to meet with him and ask why.

Riversinger, I'll email as soon as I get the chance!

Take care all,
Beth
