I am so confused on what to eat. I have getting treatment for about a year and 1/2. Well I have been taking a turn for the worst and noticed I am started to get flush on my tongue. I want to start the diet and hopefully it will help pick me back up. My Doc slowed down on the antibiotics for a bit and just kept me on Mepron and Zithromax.

I noticed everytime I would eat. I would feel extremely dizzy and have a lovely faint feeling so I have changed what I have been eating for about a week now and a lot of the dizziness has stopped. I do also have thrush on my tongue and I am going to talk to the doctor about that today.
From what I have been reading I noticed Candida can be just as bad as Lyme and is making me wonder....Hmmmmm.

So If anybody can fill me in on some good ideas for eating. I have been eating really only meat and veggies. It's killing me I really need some snacky food or sweet tasting. Also, is there any kind of bread?? Or something like it that can be eaten?? What about Milk or Soy?? Are either of these ok. One last question. What can I put on Salad??? LOL!!! Thanks, I am just confused.

Any info would help

Hi Michelle! Welcome!

The diet is very important. There are at least two other threads on the yeast today.

You have to be very strict on the diet for at least 3 wks to get things under control. Then you may be able to cheat now and then, or relax some of the restrictions. The more strict you are, however, the better you'll feel.

All of your questions should be answered by the links below. You can buy safe salad dressings at a health food store. I do cheat on that and use regular dressings. I don't eat alot of salads, so it doesn't really affect me that much.

Dairy products are not good....especially if you have thrush, or a bad case of yeast. I do eat an occasional yogurt, but I find that even that has too much lactose in it. I buy Blue Bunny low carb when I get really hungry for that.

Soy milk is OK .... some folks say soy is bad for us. I'm not sure why.

There are also low carb tortillas available now. So in desperation.....

There are all kinds of nutrition bars that are low carb. The only ones I buy are Atkins brand. Steer clear of sugar alcohols as best you can. The yeast loves that stuff!

Here are the links:
Be sure to note the "5 step plan"... very important.

PS....I don't know what your dr will prescribe for the thrush, but liquid Nystatin contains sugar. Keep that in mind.

I've used Mycelex lozenges before and they are tolerable. I've heard that Nystatin powder is pretty nasty, but it works. Then there is Diflucan.

If you really want to go on a yeast diet, you should drink a lot of Kefir. Kefir is a supplement just like acidophilus, but it has a lot more bacteria in it that is incredibly good for the immune system. But don't drink the flavored Kefir- that's got 21g of sugar in it. You got to get the regular kefir. It's very similar to yogurt, but it's extremely one of the best supplements to take.

This is the stuff that's in the Kefir:

casei, lactis, acidophilus, plantarum, rhamnosus, bacterium longum Leuconostoc cremoris, Bacterium breve, diacetylactis, and florentinus. A serving of lowfat kefir contains
3g of inulin. It's better than soy milk and yogurt.

Another good thing to drink (if you don't want to drink water but something not sweet) is Chinese Green Tea. It's regular tea, got no sugar, and it's also very good for getting rid of toxins.

Things that you can eat on a yeast diet:

Eggs, Grilled Chicken, (not fried)Vegetables of any kind, fish, meats, beans, seeds, non-yeasted bread,

Things you Can't:

Candy, Chocolate, pasta, fruits, breads, cookies, cake, juice, soda, cheeses, milk, icecream, pancakes, woffles, french toast, pizza(not a lot of dairy; Kefir is the exception, and regular yogurt, no flavored. Soy milk you can have) Fried meats, alcohol, honey, cereal.

It's hard, but you have to suffer to get better.

Salad (I forgot to mention) can be eaten on a yeast diet with vinegar and oil. No sweet dressings, no caesar dressing; no cheesy dressings. That's part of dairy. You can also have nuts, a little bit of granola, grains, not too much. You can have oatmeal as well, with regular soy milk. No white bread and no white rice. That's the worst thing you can have.

Hope this helps.

wow, thank you for that reply. What kind of bread has no yeast and where can I get it. I love eggs for breakfast but it is so hard not eating toast with it. I like runny eggs and dipping the bread in it. I do have oatmeal and I have been drinking Soy milk. It really doesn't taste to bad to me so that is a plus. Thank You [Big Grin]

What I am confused about is whether on a yeast (anti) diet one can have pulses (chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans, etc).

What about things like butternut squash, roasted?

When you say NO carb diet, do you mean meat and fat only? (as that woudl be NO carbs)...or do you mean LOW carb?

This could make you lose potassium (NO carbs at all) and if on Ketek taht is not a good thing.

Check the list of OK foods in the link I gave above. I'm pretty sure beans are NOT OK. Squash, I don't know....check the list. [I'm too lazy to do that for you! [Big Grin] ]

DLL....LOW carb is the way to go. Meat and vegetables. Vegetables that are LOW on the glycemic index. Forget corn, potatoes, etc. Those are starches.

Michelle....Ezekial bread is sprouted grains. Not supposed to be as bad for us....but go easy. It's still a carb. If you're trying to get rid of yeast, then breads of any kind are not a good idea. Once you have it under control, then the Ezekiel is ok in moderation.

AMK...About that Kefir. I know you can make your own, but I doubt I'd ever do that!...All I've ever seen in the stores is full of sugar. What brand do you buy??
