Hey Guys,
Today my first bloods were sent to Igenex. What makes this place so great? With all the symptoms I have had, still have, and sometimes have, on and off meds, never quit working, have been off over 2 wks before todays test, what are the chances I get positive results???? I mean, I think this is Lyme, I am sure of it. I have had the numb/vibrating legs, loss and broken sleep, tingling all over, stiff neck, pain, arthritis pain, stiffness, burning joints, no rash, heavy legs, twitching, spasms, covered with bugs for three different days, many were known ticks. So, what are my chances of good results??? Boy, does that sound weird! Thanks!

Everyone has their own opiion about Labs- Your Doc must think Igenex is a good lab.
I defnitiely do. My blood was sent today also - (I'm tested every year around this time.).
Igenex is a reference lab. i.e. they send the info on the equivocal bands (not just the positive and negative band) to the Doc. And they test for OSP A and B with the diagnostic labs do not. That's what makes then a better lab IMO

There are a few things that make this lab special.
The main one is that they offer testing that is unavailable at other labs (they hold the patent).
Also, you can be assured that those handling your samples are in the very least certified lab techs (not from temp. employment agencies used many times at local labs).
Also, the head of the lab is a PHD. Again, something that is unusual. Many local labs are run by people who have no medical background at all--often times their background is business managment and/or marketing or even sales.

Boston,
If you didn't write on IGX's request form to FAX the results to your dr., and snail mail your paper copy to your dr., call them to do this!
My results were lost for 4-5 weeks until I pursued this on my own.
They can fax the results in ONE WEEK vs. 2 wks to get them.

Good advice. Test results for hubby took three very frustrating weeks of waiting.
When you travel to see a LLMD, after so much frustration with other docs, you want your results fast!
That reminds me, I need to send the LLMD a thank you card for enduring all my phone calls.

It took three weeks of waiting to get my fiancees results back...finally a positive test. It is funny though, right on the test it says positive for lyme according to Igenex but according to the cdc they would concider it negative test. guess thats why no one really believes you have lyme when you you don't see an LLMD
