ever since I started clindamycin (which is stop and go - it makes me SICK) I seem to be farting a lot. ugh! something is out of balance - what to fix? I thought maybe it was too MUCH acidophilus but that isn't it I don't think...

DR. Wiseass always loves a good fart topic.
A few months ago there was a time period where - I SWEAR - it's like every time I inhaled oxygen thru my nose - I would exhale a long fart thru my...well I would fart a really really unnaturally loonnng fart.
I honestly thought about calling Guiness Books for awhile because I was convinced I had to be some kind of champion farter or something. My hubby went from being disgusted to being genuinely impressed with my new ability -- and then back to being disgusted -- as he's not used to me behaving in an unladylike manner.
wait...too funny....
I have no other insight for you -- other than to say that if you run your cats off with the gas -- get a dog -- they're generally more tolerant of such behavior and they can appreciate sharing the blame with someone.

I had a problem so bad with gas from my ABX that when I was taking could not go out in public. My huband took to sleeping in the guest room. I think as a woman this is a humiliating side effect. The thing that worked for me the best was going on a strict anti-yeast diet. No carbs no sugar. The only over the counter that helped a little was phazime which I still take from time to time Also you said you where taking aphodo. I found taking pro-biotic that have a multi stain help. too.And apho that had DDS.(And spacing two hours aleast apart.) But the thing that helped the most was the intro of diflucan and diet. As it turns out the gas was mostly from a yeast problem Take care dana

No wonder why the cats are looking freaked out.
Seriously, when I was on Clinda, my LLMD told me to call him if I got diarreah or other troublesome GI symptoms. Abx can reek havoc on the GI system. You could call your LLMD if this becomes a problem. Read the side effects profile.

My son has been complaining about this a lot--it appears he and Dr. Smartbottom are kindred spirits--they have the same problems at the same time.

I've been calmer these past few days. I do think it was the clinda (went off it for a few days) coupled with occasionally forgetting the liquid acidop. when I was taking mepron, I knew to grab the spoons to take it, and it jogged my memory for the acidop. now that I am off it, it's all pills but for the acidop. so I would forget once in a while which is enough!
do acidop pills work as well? I can't refridge the ones I carry around with me...

Personally I would never take ABX without using Probiotics.
I get the multi strain kind that needs to be in fridge.
If I forget to take or cut back I get yeast problems right away.
My LLD would have a stroke if I stopped taking Pro-biotics.The ABX is killing off your good flora at an alarming rate. The pro-biotics are supposed to replace what the ABX is killing off. This is just another opinion to think on. Good luck dana

a top quality indian restaurant will make yogurt fresh, though often with sugar and rose water.
i'm gonna call one near me and ask them to set aside a batch before adding the sugar.

Probiotics can cause gas as well. Are you sure you aren't overdoing things??
