I do not quite understand what the cyst form of lyme is. Hoping someone can help me here as it may relate to me?? - I worry very easily and can't seem to shake off the worry once it starts.
I have a very small lump under my skin on top of my thigh. Cannot be seen now, only felt.
Just before my symptoms began it felt a bit larger and was reddened. I was poking at it, pressing, rubbing it because I was freaked out it was a crazy tumor or something BAD. Now I am worried could this little lump be filled with something bad that I released into my body from pressing on it... Is that even possible???
symptoms that started were the severe tingling, numbness on left side of body, head/eye/neck, mild bells palsy.
Dr. and dermatologist looked at it and said harmless lipoma (just collection of fat cells - anyone can get one).
As always, thank you.

Yes, I had them perodically, mine were just swollen lymph nodes. Don't get them anmore. The cyst form of Lyme is microscopic. Doubt if one can feel a "lyme cyst".

There are 3 forms that B. Burgdorferi can take. One is spirochetal (the one we all know about). The second one is cell wall deficient and the third is the cystic form.
The cystic form is a round ball that the spirochete encloses itself in (I'm pretty sure). Some believe that while it is in this form, it replicates within the ball. There have been pictures of many spirochetes exiting this ball. When it is in the cystic form, the immune system doesn't know it's a spirochete.
Tests have shown that when the environment that the spirochete is in becomes hostile (through antibiotics) it retreats in to this cystic form in order to hide out until the environment gets better.
The cystic form is not much bigger than the spirochete. It's definitely not something that can be felt through the skin.
Another possibility for your lump is a lipoma. I got lipomas when I wasn't being treated for Lyme. That's just a fatty cyst-type thing.
When you see the LLMD, tell him/her about it. They'll figure out what it is.
Take care,
Corgilla

I'm kind of new at this myself but I wouldn't rule out bartonella (a co-infection). There is a good list of symptoms somewhere if you do a search in the medical questions using bartonella in subject only. Hope it's not but I suspect I have bartonella too and cysts are involved. Good luck! Julie

It has helped me tremendously to understand that this crazy lyme disease causes irrational fears. Sometimes I'll wake up in the morning worrying over the craziest things. From the time I wake up until I actually get out of bed my brain can conjure up a dozen different things to worry about.
Now that I'm aware of what is causing it, I will stop myself and begin thinking along more positive lines.
It takes a little effort but it does work and I find my day will be a lot more pleasant without all that useless anxiety.
