I have a surgery for this gull bladder to be removed on Monday, I was reading on here about having antibotics during and after this procdure. I want to do the right thing but would like some advice before I talk to the doctor. I just want someone's personal opinion, maybe someone that has had this done, ultra sound found one stuck in the cystic duct so large that it would never move into the common bile duct. I have had this lyme life for about 20 years. But was infected again about 5 years ago and have become very ill. I have seen a llmd but the course of drugs only relieve the symtoms for short periods of time. I don't have any good support, just people and other doctors that don't want to hear it. Please don't think I'm crying I'm here at this point and learning to live with all of it. I would love to hear from someone PLEASE !!! Carrots Posts: 48 | From Mn. | Registered: Dec 2001

Sorry you are going through this. I have had my gall bladder removed and survived and so will you. My concern is that you feel you don't have any support.
Perhaps your LLMD could talk to your surgeon before the surgery? You should no doubt be on antibiotics before/after the surgery if you are not still on them.
Good luck and I hope all goes well.

Hi Carrots!! Good to see you back here! I'm sorry you're feeling lousy. I just had my gall bladder out this summer.
I had been off abx for awhile, and feeling OK, except for the awful GB! So I asked the surgeon to approve abx during surgery.
Well, he did that.... but sent me home with nothing!! I had zith at home, but felt "safe" [stupid would be more like it!], so I didn't take any.
Eleven days after surgery I suddenly had a temp of 102.5 and a heart rate of 140. Off to the hospital I go. It was a horrible experience of pain and misery. Very frightening, actually.
Six days later and at a cost of more than $16,000 I was able to come home. It took me another month just to BEGIN to feel normal again.
So.....ask for abx afterwards also!
Keep us posted on how you're doing. We care. ----------------------------------
