I have been doing web research on thyroid function because I really think the lyme has messed with mine. Just found that I gained another 5 pounds -that makes 20 since July!!! I'm only 5'3!!
My normal hairline is almost gone and the outer edges of my eyebrows are almsot gone too -eek!
Still waiting for my first LLMD appointment (one more week!).
Just wondering if anyuone has tried Alvitar and if so has it helped? It is a herbal concoction that allegedly helps your body produce thyroid hormone. Thanks!

I have had similar problems with weight gain. I am also up to 20lbs since July. I am seeing an Oriental Medicine Doctor (in addition to LLMD) who started me on a homeopathic thyroid supplement which I am taking in addition to synthroid. I have no info for you on the Avitar, but the one I am taking has really increased my energy. It is called thro-plus by Progena professional formulations. Here is the site where I get it.

Before you start, you might want to request a full thyroid panel including TSH, T4 total and free, T3 uptake and maybe thyroglobulin antibodies. This will help get a better picture of your thyroid issues. The last one can help identify an autoimmune component. I hear a lot of people have benefit from armour thyroid also.

Best,
Kristen
