I am certain I had what seems to be a Herx reaction after one week on Doxy (worst headache ever) but now I have also been on Ceftin for almost a week (doubled dosage this weekend) and am hoping I wont have another...
Does anybody know what the time frame is for having a herx following antbiotic therapy? IS it anytime after 72 hours on the drugs?

I am also on Ceftin and doubled dosage each week for the first few weeks.

Each time I increased the dose, I had a huge flare of existing symptoms. Then, 28 days after taking abx, I had a paralysis herx that landed me in the ER. I was out of commission for days afterwards.

Exactly 28 days later, the same thing happened. By the third 28-day cycle, I had numbness in my fingertips and an exaggeration of existing symptoms, but I never had anything as severe as those first two experiences.

I'ved actually been getting slowly (very very very slowly) better each week. It has now been 5 months.

I hope this helps.

Oh my gosh, a paralysis herx sounds just horrible. I'm so glad you're feeling better now.

Thanks, Boomer --
It really was scary, but when I posted about it here, about half a dozen people with similar experiences responded.

Nasty disease!
