I was just wondering if anyone has had a increase of the joint and muscle pain when doing abx. I had some numbness and pain, but has gotten really bad. Do you take any type of pain medication either? Does this symptom get better or do you have permanent damage? I just was wondering. I never had any problems with my joints and muscles until I got Lymes. I am praying this will go away with the treatment and stay away.

Thanks,

Janjan

Hi agian janjan-

yes increased pain, stiffness and swelling is common. Yes, many people take a variety of pain killers. I didn't have severe pain, so rarely took anything, but when I did it was an Aleve. My son had severe pain and would take 2 Aleve twice a day, per the llmd. Others have taken stronger stuff.

I resigned myself to some perminent damage, but that may not be the case. As the lyme goes so did the numbness, soreness and stiffness. Now the joint swelling in my fingers is FINALLY going too.

Our bodies are amazing. I'm truly impressed at how well mine is healing itself. It has taken 2.5 years to get to this point of wellness.

My husband has just finished his first week of IV rocephin after 18 months of infection. His major symptom for the past 9 months has been low back and leg pain, especially in his knees, more or less 24/7.

Within 8 hours of his first IV dose, the pain went off the scale and it has stayed that way with little relief for the whole 7 days. I just hope this is a herx or die-off or something and that it will recede soon. He is taking Cocodemal which may be a European brand name - anyway it is a paracetemol and codeine mix. It does not put the pain away but it does take the edge off it for a couple hours. His doctor has suggested a low dose tricyclic antidepressant as that can help with nerve pain but he is going to stick it out for a few more days first.
