Has anyone experienced extreme bloating and lower (behind bellybutton and down)abdominal pain and cramping while on doxycycline? I have been on it for 25 days and am about to stop, to see if it is causing this pain. It is almost hard to stand up with the pain for long periods of time? Any thoughts? I want to have a nice holiday so I may quit taking for a week. Thanks for any advice. I was diagnosed with IBS a while ago, and have not experienced pain, tightness and bloating like this before.

Stomach pain and general gastric trouble are Bartonella symptoms.

A long with lyme symptoms it can also be a symptom of yeast.
Are you taking multi strain probiotic,s and spacing them two hours after ABX.
I also get this too but most of the time this is an indication from my body that I have a yeast problem. [Eek!]
I am also on a combo that include's doxy.
Take care

I have the same thing. I was diagnosed with IBS, but the key is that its BS, it always has a cause.

The Doxy itself can cause abdominal pain and cramping. Taking a break from it may be a good idea. It could be yeast, sure, but if you are taking your probiotics it may just be the Doxy. Then again, too much probiotics give me pain and gas and bloating too.
I ended up getting C.difficile infection from antibiotics. That can cause really bad diarrhea and cramping. If you get a fever or you cant get off the pot, have your stool checked for clostridium difficile toxins A& B. [Razz] Make sure you are taking your Doxy after a full meal and water.
