I have been on vibramyacin, plaquenil and clarithromyacin since Sept. I herxed the first time at the beginning of Oct. Not much change in Nov until this week. Could also be related to the holiday weekend.
However, I seem to have developed hives on the back of my neck. They started on one side, are are progressing to the other side. This has been happening since last Friday. Do you think this is part of a herx? It doesn't seem like it could be an allergic reaction after all this time.
They itch like crazy, so I am using benadryl on the areas.

You can develop an allergy to something at any time. So you need to call your LLMD ASAP.

I got hives 5 days into IV Rocephin...and it turned out to be part of a herx. Always get these things checked out though in case it is an allergy.

Hey Hgramma, it sounds to me like a herx. My hubby did the same thing after being on doxy about a month.
He developed a bright red sunburn looking thing on his face, which eventually turned into a prickly rash...... That's when I realized it wasn't a sunburn he had gotten from the antibiotics he was taking. It was a herx.
He stopped antibiotics for 3 days, (as the LLMD said to do)......and it cleared up. He started back on anbitiotics after that.
From what I've read, and I'm still learning, it doesn't pay to fight through a herx. Best to take a break from the antibiotics when you herx, and then resume again.
Skin reactions are very common, but the good thing is it means the antibiotics are doing some good!
Take a break from antibiotics 2-3 days, and you should feel a bit better.

Hives can come from abx's and also be caused in a round about way by them yeast? Also dont forget your killing bacteria all over inside and outside your body {skin}.

Same thing happened to me when I was on Rocephin and Welbrutin...a severe drug interaction from being on the two and the same time. I only developed the hives after a few weeks of being on the two drugs.
Hives means your body is not having a good response to something, so, IMO, STOP all meds and contact your doctor as soon as possible.
