What do you folks think of "Reliv", the powdered supplement...
I have been pestered and pestered by people from this company to sign on with them. I've already received three calls today from a woman who patched me through to a guy who has had an amazing recovery from Lyme disease - all due to Reliv of course, and two other 'testimonial' calls.
I also had someone appproach me recently about glyconutrients and Mannatech.
Am getting a little tired of people coming out of the woodwork to "sign me on" once they hear I have Lyme disease.
Maybe other companies are better but with Reliv the product seems to be just a thinly veiled screen to support the marketing business.
I've asked questions about the large amount of sugar in the "Innergize" ("oh, it's metabolized differently...") and whether or not the "Classic" which is 97% soy-based contains GMO soy or soy protein isolate (this woman who's been selling it for years had no idea what I was even talking about).
Am I missing something here?
The only supplement I've tried through a home-based business is mangosteen and, though I haven't taken it long enough to be 100% sure, I think it is the "real deal". I can hardly choke down the Reliv "shakes" but my body absolutely craves mangosteen juice.
Just wondering if anyone else has had experiences like this. All the testimonials about Reliv sound marvelous but I remain skeptical.
Thanks. Lymebites

I am underwhelmed just looking at the ingredients. When someone does 100% of the US RDA/RDI, that tells me that there isn't much in it.... I personally would not take it.

My mom had a client who was a Reliv rep. This woman found out I had "Fibromyalgia" (back before I knew about the lyme) and started her full court press on my mom to buy every single supplement they sold.
So in her cupboard for the past year or so have sat all these tins of Reliv products. I looked at the labels and some of them seem to have decent herbal ingredients, but I too am put off by all the sugar in them. And I don't trust their quality.
There is one called Fibrestore that does not have sugar but fructooligosaccharides, which I keep meaning to look up but always forget to. I do use that to supplement fiber on occasion but the other products just don't wow me and I don't trust their strength or purity.
If I was going to sell any products (which I am not, but hypothetically) it would be Nature's Sunshine because of their high quality. For myself, I am much more into everything by Dr. Schulze. (http://www.herbdoc.com).
Cheers,
Alison

Scott, you found the exact word for my sentiments - UNDERWHELMED!!
I'm not sure about the fructooligosaccharides - sounds like the fancy term for fructose.
I've already boxed up the "Classic", "Fibrestore" and "Innergize" to send back for a full refund.
I don't trust their strength or purity either, was totaly "underwhelmed" by the testimonials and the comp. plan is nothing compared to mangosteen and probably Nature's Sunshine too.
Sayanara Reliv!

I took all the ReLiv products for well over 6 months when they said you should give it about 3 months to kick in. I even was on a VERY high dose of the base stuff which I needed because of the severity of my case. I have never responded to any other treatment and this one neither. I think they are good products but just not enough power for my case. I heard a ton of first person testimonials tho. especially this one guy from Utah who built his own 4000 sq. foot house himself after curing himself from lyme with this great pixie powder. glad all the others did so good and cured themselves but I did NOT!!> Another call was from a lady whose own father was so sick in Florida from Lyme he could not function,(like tie his own shoes) then after using Reliv he was out dancing again with a new lady friend. he was in his middle 80's. It must have worked for some because I have serious question if anybody would call me long business for an hour at a time and tell me a first person story that wasnt true. The stories sure sounded true!!! Like I said, I wasnt lucky enough to get 'fixed' by it.

Fructooligosaccharides are important. They are a prebiotic meaning that they feed the probiotics. They are in most cases a very good thing. Prebiotic use of FOS or inulin is generally indicated and helps the probotics grow better.
Still not impressed by the product overall....
I'll also comment that Ambrotose is a possible exception. I just met for an hour with a doctor today that really believes in that product even though the doctor said all the other Mannatech products were window-dressing.

I have tried both Reliv and Ambrotose. Both are good. Neither will cure anything. I take either one or the other. Currently I am taking Ambrotose.
I have just tried some of the detox foot pads and they seem to be VERY effective. I was looking for a post on the foot pads to post my impressions.

Just Don - The two people with 'Lyme testimonials' wanted me to drink four high dose shakes a day - not possible since I couldn't choke the concoction down, period!
I sent my stuff back to get my moolah back!
The stories sounded great to me too but there is major incentive for these folks to extol on the positive...remarkable...health benefits because they're real focus is to get you to sign on the dotted line.
Hey Scott - how else can one get Fructooligosaccharides to feed our probiotics? "Prebiotic use of FOS or inulin is generally indicated and helps the probotics grow better" - how can we assist in this? Someone told me to take my probiotics on an empty stomach with a full glass of water and then "feed" them with some food an hour later...
I've heard good things about Mannatech and a close friend swears by it. Interesting that this doc considers Ambrotose their premiere product.
bob - I'm curious about the detox foot pads. My toxin levels are sky high. Did you get them from your doc?

I bought the pads on ebay. Just look for "detox foot pads".
A blood test years ago showed everything to be fine. I have built electronics since 13. When I needed a third hand I would hold the solder in my mouth. I also played with mercury, and had over a dozen fillings.
On top of that we bought an old house on the verge of being torn down, stripped it to the studs and rebuilt it. It was full of lead paint. I saw the paint cans they said "tough as lead", "made with lead", etc.
I was so stiff that even doctors commented on my stiffness. Kinda like Herman monster. In the morning if there were any steps my joints would crack like crazy. I actually herxed on the foot pads. The only thing that herxed that bad was combinations of antibiotics.
