has anybody had this test?

http://www.therapath.com/

i had it and apparently it showed signs of neuropathy. it is suposed to be more sensitive that EMG.

the neuro Dr K in CT does the test but i haven't discussed the results with him yet.

thanks

For peripheral neuropathy questions, I would suggest you post on the PN forum on www.braintalk.org

They do a lot of research on small fiber PN, discuss skin punch biopsies, and would probably like to hear about this testing facility.

cj

sorry for not relpying to this sooner. it got lost in the shuffle.

i don't know about the special equiptment for this test, but i would call the company and ask them what is needed.

is your DR willing to do the test? if so, tell the company that your DR is interested in doing the test and that you are doing the research for him/her or tell your DR about the company and see if they will set it up for you.

i still haven't had a follow up for this test yet, but i think that one of the main things DR K uses is IVIG.

thanks
bill

Key word is
Diabetic Neuropathy and Small Fiber Neuropathy, a type of neuropathy that affects the small, but not large fibers in peripheral nerves.
Symptoms of Small Fiber Neuropathy include numbness, tingling, burning, stinging, shooting, or aching pains, usually in the arms and legs, but also in other parts of the body including the torso and face.
