Does anyone know if my baby can be infected w/ Lyme's as I did not know when I was pregnant that I had it?

First, it is Lyme, not Lyme's. Second, yes. The fact that you did not know that you had it does not change the risk of transmission.

Welcome to Lymenet. Here is a good link on pregnancy and Lyme...some of the most up to the minute info, thanks to a poster of ours who attended a recent conference of Lyme scientific sorts.
Also, check out the "Newbies" page -- the very first thing on this discussion page -- you'll find many links concerning pregnancy and Lyme.
The CDC won't tell you much and in fact still has its head in the sand about the whole matter. But transmission does occur.
Is your baby still "in the making" or "on the ground" -- ? !! Congratulations and welcome. I hope you are well!

Yes, it is Lyme Disease, not Lyme's Disease.
If you are already pregnant, and you have Lyme, or have ever had Lyme, you MUST get to a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD) right away. It is essential that you are treated during your entire pregnancy to avoid giving your baby Lyme. Most doctors use Amoxicillin in high doses. The doses change according to your blood peak levels. Bicillin is being used more and more, 3-4 shots a week during pregnancy.
Now you say..."was" pregnant, does that mean you have already given birth and your baby is sick?
When he/she was born did you have the cord blood/placenta and urine tested for Lyme? Does your child have a Lyme Literate pediatrician? Too many questions...

Thanks for all your replies. I think I was a bit out of it when I typed the initial question regarding passing LYME on to your baby.
I have a 3 year old son, I was just diagnosed in April and have been struggling to get a dr. and treatment. Because of the info on this site did I just find out that I can pass it on to him.
Prior I had read that he could only get it if I contracted it in the first sememster but went w/ my mommy's intuition b/c he had two unexplained fevers w/ no other sypmtoms of cold or what the other kids have.
He was a premie and the delivery was excruiating and they gave me NOTHING for pain until he was on his way out. I was so traumatized as well as my son's dad and my mom.
I left a message w/ Dr. Jones and have called a dr. in PA that treats both kids and adults to see if we can see them.
We are Lakota people, the governement calls us the Sioux, it is tradition to keep the baby's cord and preserve it in sage. I still have it and it has been at room temp. Does anyone think that they would be able to tell now if he had it at birth?
I can't think of going through what I went through to get my son diagnosed so the more info, the better advocate I can be for him.

Does the child have symptoms? Why do you think he may have Lyme? Interesting question on the cord - not sure. I know Bowen can test lots of different fluids, etc. for Lyme, but not sure if that has ever been done.
Reality is that it is more useful to know if he has Lyme now, not whether or not he (or she) had it at birth.

He is three now and has fevers w/ no other symptoms. He was sick for a month this fall and had a clear runny nose w/ fever for two out of the four weeks.
This has happened severals time in the last year at shorter intervals. He also has rages where he is so mad an frustrated, more like an outburst.
Plus, my pregnancy was so awful, I threw up for seven months and had him at eight months. I had lost sixteen pounds up until my seventh month.
I know I need to rule it out or treat it if he has it. I hate to think he is suffering and he can't tell me like he wants to b/c he is only 3.
