Hi, I know there are some that notice an improvement at night..I seem to get a marked improvement in energy, balance and most of my symptoms.
I do not believe it's all in my head but I wonder if those that notice this are co-infected with babs like me? There has got to be a medical reason for this. Any thoughts or theories? kt

Are you a fellow Canuck? I just moved back to California from Vancouver Island.
Anyhoo...this is totally true for me. I have this window in the evenings/night time where I can function much better than in the day. I am worst in the mornings, and it takes me until evenings to feel well enough to move around more. At night I am at my best.
I tested negative for babs but I still suspect I have it, especially given this wacky diurnal symptom. I have tested positive for bartonella though.
Cheers,
Alison

My daughters best time is around 8:00 - 9:00 at night. She does test positive for babesia. Mornings are awful. She wishes there was a night school she could attend.

Ya, I'm from BC too...lower mainland (sunshine coast originally) I think this must be a babs thing. I tested neg in canadian labs too but I've sure got it!
I've become a "night" person. Days seem to be a complete waste of time for me. Only at night I feel even a little alive..

I hear that there are so many strains of babs and they can only test for a few. So I tend to think I have it.
And sinice malaria (its relative) also has cycles where you feel better at certain times, this seems to make sense.

Thanks Alison, Does malaria actually have "daily" cycles where the patients feel better? Monthly cycles with malaria I have heard but feeling better at different times of the day,,that would explain this!

Well, no, malaria doesn't have the daily cycles, although I believe (streeeeeeetching my memory here) that it goes not only in monthly but also in 72 hour cycles.
I figure since babs is a relative, that may explain our cycle, even if the timing is slightly different. I know of no other disease that cycles like this and I can't figure out any other reason why I perk up at night.
I wonder if vampires had babesia....lol....more active at night, sensitivity to sunlight....

I've had periods of my illness where I'm better at night too...for me I think it might have something to do with cortisol fluctuations. My doc tested my salivary cortisol level and it was low in the morning and higher at night.
I am positive for babesia (by antibody, not PCR) but have always been unsure how much of a role it plays. (So hard to tell when Lyme, etc. can also cause night sweats!)
Of course, I've also had periods where my body totally shut down at night and morning was the only time I could get anything done.

I too, seem to come alive just for a little while at night time. I tested positive for Bab and am new to all this. Have only had a diagnosis for 3 weeks and believe me the treatments are terrible. I appreciate everyone's post, I've learned so much from this board and without it I would have been lost regarding Lyme and all the coninfections. Thanks to all..........Dalphia
