Does anyone here only have neurological symptoms (pins and needles, etc.) and joint issues but feel fine otherwise (no flu like feelings, lack of energy, etc)? From reading the msgs here it seems like most experience fatigue, fever, etc. Just wondering...

Rest assured. Not everyone will experience the same symptoms-not at all! What affects one person will be completely differen't from what affects another--I am learning that the hard way here! What symptoms do you personally have?? You need to hook up with an LLMD. How soon are you planning to move back to CO?

I have pins and needle feelings in my hands, elbows and then sometimes they get so tingly that I am uncomfortable. I noticed sometimes when I am on the phone, my elbow gets those feelings too.
I also have had terrible joint pain in my knees.

(Nancy- you must have me mixed up with someone else regarding Colorado unless my wife has plans for me that I am unaware of!)
I know there are a lot of symptoms but I thought it was odd that I never got the flu, sickness, etc. but rather just neuro symptoms and joint aches. I guess the answer is that maybe it's not so odd?

David, I have mainly neuro symptoms (muscle pain, fatigue, twitching, numbness, weakness and even wasting). Some of the symptoms are mainly on one side. I don't really have the fever, although I have had night sweats several times in the past year. The stiff neck came on only since I started the abx...it has gone down a bit since I backed off of abx to once a day. I do have a weird pain in my throat (left side) that no one can figure out. It has been there for almost two months. I also have major GI issues (IBS, sluggish gallbladder, GERD). However, the neuro symptoms have become the worst for me lately.

I think I have read in threads here that LOW body temp is common. My daughter's runs in the 97 range. When I think she looks or acts feverish, it is in the 98 range. It took me awile to figure that, for her, that is a fever! DUH!! Symptoms can vary, even as you journey through treatment. Depends on where the spirochetes are partying at the time.

Hi David, My symptoms started as just neurological including twitching, numbness and pins and needles. That's all I had for at least the first 3 months. After the lyme was in my body for a while it messed with my thyroid so now I get tired but not "knocked down and dragged out stay in bed all day" tired. I am usually fine until about 700 or 800PM. Other than that I feel great but I am an excerciser so I think that helps. Good luck and get yourself a good LLMD now - don't waste your time and money with regular doctors. Julie

David, I too have mostly neuro symptoms right now. I don't know for sure if it's lyme but I had 3 bullseye rashes in 1993 and have never been the same since. I did have the infectious symptoms back then but not now.
I have numbness, tingling, twitching, spine pain all over, burning in all different areas and much more. My symptoms change from day to day, hour to hour. I never know what the day will be like. So far all testing for MS has come up negative.

I had these symptoms with both Lyme and bartonella. The Lyme caused some joint pain in my hands, and the bartonella caused shin splints.
While their symptoms can be interchangeable (and both are equally severe when untreated, so don't downplay one at the expense of the other), I found the Lyme tended to cause a lot of fever, memory and concentration problems, and overall body pain. It was also responsible for severe systemic inflammation.
The bartonella also causes fever and flulike symptoms, but it often specifically swells up your lymph nodes and sinuses, and triggers anxiety, anger, and poor impulse control. If you find yourself getting into a lot of arguments, or a hundred conversations per day because you simply must keep talking and talking and talking, or if you find yourself bleeding from your sinuses, that may be early bart. The fevers also begin with relapsing cycles, but they eventually become constant.

Hubby is the same way.......never really had a lot of flu symptoms that we can remember. Just a general sense of not feeling good several months ago. Then it seemed all his neuro problems began.
Since he's been on abx, his main complaint is still the "pressure" on the front of his head. That has relieved on some days, but never goes away. (yet anyway) Very frustrating....
He does complain a lot of elbow pain, joints feeling locked. Has good and bad days with the itching.
Just giving you the perspective I'm seeing...

When I first got infected about 6 years ago, all I had was a lot of pain in the tendons behind my knees. But NOW I have been having the weakness, foggy brain, very bad vision, joint problems, the knee tendon pain, strong and growing bronchial pain, headaches, numbness, forgetfulness, vertigo, achilles pain, hip pain, back pain, neck stiffness and pain. It goes on and on.
However, since I started taking some herbs about 10 days ago, much of the symptoms have all but disappeared. Almost like a miracle. Sure feels good to feel kind of good again. At least now I know there is hope.
I am Rob. I have NEVER had flu like symptoms with this lyme crap! I have had the burning feelings, profound fatigue in the begining, I had doxy for six weeks, felt much better, but it came back, oh well! Had the numb and heavy legs, some foggy feelings, tingling, pain, stiff neck, a lot of things....I was told by my LLMD that I do NOT have co-infects, plus was tested a few times, even by Igenex. I am herxing a lot on this Tetracycline, but i think its ok, atleast I am getting well now. I have never herxed like this on Amox. Anywa, ever forward my friend!

One of the times I've been infected (bull's eye rash and engorged tick) all I got was a very tiff neck. Nothing else until years later. When I told GP about rash and tick, he said the tick was too big to be a deer tick and I don't have Lyme. Even engorged, the tick was only as big as a shelled sunflower seed.
The best quote I've seen on here is: "If you had cancer would you go to a GP?" This is an extremely complicated disease.
