I have a few questions for people who have or are taking B-12 shots. I was wondering what symptoms got better? I heard many people say that neuro symptoms improved, but which symptoms specifically.
Also what dose are you taking, what type of B-12, and how often? I have constant dizziness, brain fog, fatigue, and memory concentration problems. Anyone with these symptoms see improvement?
I had my first appointment with Dr. C in Mt. Kisco, and I mentioned B-12 shots and he gave me one. This morning when I woke up I felt less dizzy/ off balance for about an hour. It was probably a fluke, but it got me more interested in them.
What does everyone think about Dr D. saying that B-12 and other vitamins invigorate the spirochetes?

I stopped giving myself the B-12 shots when I discovered that they had aluminum in them. I couldn't really notice if they were helping either.
I think I'm going to go with sublingual vitamin B instead. I also take them in supplement form. I don't know about the invigorating the spirochetes theory.

Hi there. I take b-12 shots. I think they are 1000mcg shots but I am not totally sure. I take the methylcobalamine b-12 injections. Do I notice a big differenct on them? Not really. However, it does help a bit with the energy levels. I take them 2-3 times a week. My dr also highly recommends you take folic acid with the b-12 as well.

I don't think much about it!
I began the shots when I got a nice hospital infection this summer. The shots got me back to square one. I noticed a lessening of fatigue and depression. Feel more alert and ready to go.
I feel dragged out sometimes when I don't take one. I'm now taking one every other day due to the aluminum issue.
My next vial will be from a compounding pharmacy and they don't put the aluminum in them. It's more expensive, but hey!
I take 1 cc each time. Right now I have cyanocobalamin....but will get the methyl next time.

There are a few different kind of B12 shots. The one you got was probably Cyanocobalamin. Those are typically the most common, and least expensive. You usually get 1-2 shots per week. The best kind for Lymies, especially with neurological symptoms is methycobalamin. It works really well. Its important to do the shots daily, or atleast every other day for 6 months to a year, and then taper off from there. You use 1cc daily, and always in the morning. If is working correctly then your urine should be pink. It gave me a major improvement in energy and cognition. My stamina increased do much I could hike the Grand Canyon! Its great stuff!
You have to get methylcobalamin made up for you at a compounding pharmacy. Call around for prices, and get the Rx for it. Prices vary for it alot, and make sure you keep it in the fridge.

I am doing the methycobalamin B-12 shots as well, but I can't tell if they are doing anything for me or not. Doesn't seem like they are working for me.

I have some injectable B-12 from last years CFS diagnosis that is 1mg (1000 mcg) in strength. Does anyone know what dosage lymies should be taking?
My MD told me to give myself a shot a week but again that was for CFS and he was kinda stabbing in the dark.
It is from a compounding pharmacy and they do offer higher strengths than 1mg per cc but wow it is pricey. I did get some relief but this was before abx and I think it would work better now.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks everyone for the info. I am going to ask Dr. C if I could try the B-12 shots for a while. Is there anyone who has had high B-12 level and still took the shots? My levels in the past have been high.
Thanks, Heather

Mine was high several years ago. I know it was normal when my GP tested me several months ago. But they really work for me and neither dr has said taking them is a problem. Your body uses what it needs and gets rid of the rest.

I take a sublingual B-12 that is called "No Shot" Love the name and it has 1,000 mcg per micro- tablet. Great for maintaining stamina. This one also has Folic acid (400 mcg)in it + milk and Acacia gum.
There was a study done a couple of years ago that showed two sublingual tablets of B-12 a day was as good as taking shots.

The sublingual usually does not get absorbed enough. I'm sure it can have some effect, but unless your urine is pink when you take sublingual MethyB12, it may not be good enough. Sublingual Cyanocobalamin seems to not work at all. Just FYI
