I found something online that said BUN levels can be slightly elevated with babesiosis. I remember going over my blood test results last year, and seeing that the BUN levels were elevated. I didn't know the cause then. But, I just got a letter from the hospital saying that my 3 y/o son's BUN levels are elevated. We're still waiting for the results of his Lyme and Babesiosis tests that were run just the other day. He wasn't on medication. He has no known kidney problems. No diabetes. No UTI. No dehydration. I've been saying that I think he has it, and possibly my almost 5 y/o DD has it as well. I haven't had them tested all this time, since I couldn't find a doctor who was willing to treat me, and I didn't want to have to fight that when it came to my kids' health. Now I have a doctor who will treat me, so I figured I'd have my kids tested to see if I have to get them in to see him, too. They're not experiencing any serious symptoms, like I am, but I do see some symptoms that indicate Lyme Disease. It could just be my mama paranoia... y'know, when you have Lyme you think everybody around you has it, too! LOL! But, it is quite possible that my son has it, because he was still nursing when I started becoming real sick, and didn't have any answers yet.

I just thought I'd share the info I found. Maybe this should have gone in the support section, but I thought this info might answer some questions other Lymees may have.

Interesting info. I"m glad you're doing your homework on Lyme! We have to stay informed.

I'm sorry your children may have Lyme too. That's awful!

Be sure to TREAT the babs, even if the tests come up negative....which happens often!! In order to beat the Lyme, you HAVE TO beat the babs.

This is interesting.... I am currently waiting for babs test results to come back (symptoms indicate babs as a possibility).
My DD urine analysis showed considerably higher than normal excretion of creatinine. So, my body is getting rid of it (not high in blood), but there is a lot.
Don't know if we are comparing apples with apples here, though...
