Yep, my mom does. It's a low blood sugar thing.
Affects her worst when she's either eaten something to which she is allergic or when she's kicking around a virus.
When it's bad, she just cannot maintain her blood sugar levels.

Interesting.... I wonder if it is because of the lyme.....it doesnt happen everytime and varies with what i eat. When i first got sick i thought it was diabetes....but glucose blood test came back ok.
Before lyme i do know that if i didnt eat something i would get sick...feel faint etc. Maybe i have always had this and lyme made it worse. thanks for the info.

Maybe beause there where some days where you did'nt eat much and now your still hungry after you eat because maybe your body needs to make up for lost time.I would say go ahead and eat moure if your still hungry.Your body needs lots of fuel to fight this disease
You could make up for lost time and eat a little something more. Maybe you could stand to gain few pounds?

It sounds like you are hypoglycemic. This symptom can get worse or better depending on what you eat. Were you eating a high carb meal when this happened, something that had a starch in it maybe?
You can test it out by just having a protein meal only, say a couple of pieces of chicken, or something similar. Just don't eat any carbs with it, and then see if you get hungry afterwards.
Next time this happens to you, pay attention to what you ate.

My experience with this was actually due to air hunger. And it was quite like you described. I ate because my "energy" was low but after I ate my "energy" was still low. I finally realized, after some more extreme episodes, that it was what I'd heard called "air hunger." Around this time, I tested positive for Babs.
Babs treatment has pretty much gotten rid of the air hunger/eating/tiredness cycle. Have you been tested for Babs?
My $.02.
Be well, D
PS I'd been around the block with the blood sugar thing. I never tested positive for hypoglycemia however in the past the Zone Diet helped me regulate what I thought was low blood sugar. (This was pre-Lyme diagnosis.) Maybe the Zone Diet was giving the candida less food and therefore strengthening my immune system's fight against the bugs and thus making me think I was regulating my blood sugar better.

This feeling can also happen with orthostatic hypotension. It is very common with these illnesses. Do a search and you'll find lots of info on it.

Another possibility: Helicobacter piloris in the stomach, a bactery that may cause that symptom.
My aunty swears it was her main symptom, always hungry even after eating.
But I believe the antibiotics against lyme should kill the H. pil. too, if I'm not mistaken.

I am always starving it seems. It's been suggested to me by my doctor years ago that I am borderline hypoglycemic and to eat more protein and fewer carbs.
When I am hungry, as when I am tired, stressed or hot, I get very weak.

I tested negative for Babs, too. Two LLMDs thought I had Babs based on my symptoms. I went with the one who didn't treat the Babs based on the test. Lo and behold, after several months of treatment, I tested positive for Babs. I'm at the end of my 4th month of Mepron/Zith and will get tested next week.
I also had neurally mediated hypotension which is different from orthostatic but they appear similar. NMH actually had me in the ER one Saturday morning. It turned out to be a herx. After the appropriate heart checks (I skipped the orthostatic hypotension tests tho I probably should'nt have just have been safe) my LLMD advised lots of water and salt. I even took salt pills for awhile. I never NMH again.
It was a very unpleasant symptom. Good luck figuring it out! I hope you feel better soon!
Be well, Denise

This might be too simplistic and way off base.... but I have noticed that some of the abx have a side effect of increasing my appetite.
I can have a lovely dinner w. all the right things - much protein, colorful veggies, no sweets.... and then I feel I want to eat more, too!
But I have found a definite correlation to being on or off certain antibiotics. (And they would probably be different ones for each of us).
Might be worth checking out w. LLMD or pharmacist as to whether appetite stimulation is a side effect.
