I will be starting Biaxin soon. My LLMD prescribed Biaxin XL and it isn't on our insurance company's formulary but Biaxin is.

Do you take Biaxin or Biaxin XL?

(I will call my LLMD.)

The last time I checked into this, Biaxin and Biaxin XL both contain Titanium Dioxide, which has been researched and shown to be carcinogenic. It or they also contain articifical coloring agents and articifical flavoring -------

More toxins we need to unload?

Check the fine print on all your supplements and medicines, bathroom items, makeup. You will be as surprised as I was because many contain this substance, Titanium dioxide.

"There is E-171 titanium dioxide in most of our toothpastes. Toothpastes also contain dangerous toxic substances like sodium lauryl sulfates. Are you aware that when brushing the teeth with Colgate, you are damaging the protective mucosa in your mouth, so that the titanium dioxide which is carcinogenic can get through, and our children are probably swallong Colgate and damaging their GI mucosa. So look for E-171."

We now live at a time when one out of four people are fighting cancers. I am no longer wondering why.

Take care.

so GIGI is saying dont drink the water and dont take any antibiotics.

There are thousands of compounds every day even in out "natural" food that are carcinogenic.

Did you know that apple seeds contain cyanide?

Thats why theres so much cancer in the world.
Its the apples!

Yea, right lymeherx! [Roll Eyes]

The APPLE is also blamed for WHY mankind is in SIN.

EVEN though the Bible does NOT say that. NO version I have ever read says it.

It was the FRUIT of Knowledge of Good AND Bad that they partook of. THAT fruit would no longer be with us as IT was forbidden then and certainly would be forbidden now.

Besides MOST of us do not eat the SEEDS. NOT good to eat the peeling either, unless you can find UNsprayed apples. Washing does NOT take care of getting rid of the poisons.

Cultivate your own apple tree. Use NO pesticides on it. IF you are vegiterian, cut the worm OUT.

Well i remember when I used to Juice.
Before I had a problem with sugar that is.

Some seeds would always get in. A couple would be juiced and make it in my drink.

I guess its no worse than the formic acid and formaldehyde that we put in out soda!

Peggy,

I'm taking Biaxin 500mg. 2x/day with Flagyl 250mg. 2x/day and Sulfa 500mg. 2x/day. In the beginning my symptoms worsened but now, after two months on this regimen I'm feeling better than I have since I started abx. 11 months ago.

I'm certainly no expert but wouldn't worry about the difference between regular and XL - if your insurance covers the regular, go for it! I take the plain old Biaxin.

...Whoops, just double-checked and I AM taking the XL! And it costs mucho denero! I've applied for Rx assistance (pending) but am going to call my doc tomorrow to see if he can switch me to Biaxin if it's cheaper.

Have you tried the search engine here using the keyword "Biaxin" - you'd probably retrieve a lot of info. [Smile]

My insurance will cover Biaxin with my co-pay. They may cover Biaxin XL with a prior authorization from the doctor.

Precautions
When in a metallic powdered form, titanium metal poses a significant fire hazard and, when heated in air, an explosion hazard. Water and carbon dioxide-based methods to extinguish fires are ineffective on burning titanium; sand, dirt, or special foams must be used instead. Salts of titanium are often considered to be relatively harmless but chlorine compounds, such as TiCl3 and TiCl4, should be considered corrosive. Titanium also has a tendency to bio-accumulate in tissues that contain silica but it does not play any known biological role in humans.
From
wikipedia

A. Toxicological Profile

Titanium is the eighth most abundant element in the earth's crust
and consequently spontaneously enters the food chain to some degree.
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a major constituent of a number of minerals,
including rutile, which consists of 95% titanium dioxide. The most
commercially important of the titanium compounds, titanium dioxide
annual worldwide production is estimated to be appoximately two million
metric tons. Titanium dioxide is an opaque powder that is approved for
use as a colorant in food (21 CFR 73.575), in drugs (21 CFR 73.1575),
and in cosmetics (21 CFR 73.2575; 21 CFR 73.3126). It has an extensive
range of industrial uses (e.g., paint, paper, and plastics). Titanium
dioxide is currently exempt from the requirement for a tolerance when
used as a colorant in pesticide formulations (40 CFR 180.1001(d)).
A National Cancer Institute bioassay concluded that titanium
dioxide did not affect mortality, and was not carcinogenic at dose
levels of 25,000 or 50,000 ppm in rats or mice

The World Health Organization Committee on Food Coloring Materials
has determined that no ADI need be set for the use of titanium dioxide
based on the range of acute, subacute and chronic toxicity assays, all
showing low mammalian toxicity, including a two year chronic feeding
study in mice which was negative for carcinogenicity. Indeed, titanium
dioxide is frequently used as a negative control material in in vivo
chronic dust exposure studies and in in vivo assessments of fibrogenic
potential of dusts.

My LLMD switched me from Biaxin to XL somewhere along the way, but I am not sure why. I did just ask at the pharmacy, and Biaxin (not XL) is now available in generic form. I intend to ask my LLMD if I can return to Biaxin the next time I need a refill. I assume there is not enough of a difference that my LLMD would mind my returning to that and saving. (Insurace does cover it, but our copays differ considerably.)

My answer to this thread and I know that that would also be the answer of Dr. K.:

1. N E V E R stop detoxing metals as long as you take vitamins and/or antibiotics.

2. Become politically involved and stop the drug manufacturers from this insanity.
