I have been using Primal Defense for at lease 2 years and from day one my bloated stomach when flat till a few weeks ago.
Its not real bad but Im having some trouble again and just noticed it has a NEW LABEL & FORMULA.
It no longer says Organic and it now has fermented molasses. That does not sound like a good thing. I though all fermented products were a no no for abx users expecially a sugar.
Suppose to have more probiotics and a little mor iron but that shouldnt cause my increased bloat.
Any other long term users experiencing similiar with the new label.
The new label looks just like the old until you start to read the fine print. (tricky)On the front at bottom old: 180 UltraZorb (tm) caplets new: 180 Caplets
On the back of the new label in dark blue area middle it says : Questions about our new label? Visit www.gardenoflife.com/primal for more info

I didn't know about the new formulation. I stocked up before the price increase and still have 2 big bottles of the old formula.
I read a post a few weeks back about theralac. I ordered some and have been taking one capsule every night. So far it is great. You might want to give it a try. hatsnscarfs

Personally, I think there are lots of products that are better than Primal Defense. See my Probiotics page at the site below.

Thanks Hats. I wouldnt have noticed the new formula if I hadnt had a conversation with my gp and he asked me to fax him label info on it. He is going to start stocking a new yeast product so was interested.
I take this as a divine sign that Im ment to look in a new direction for yeast help. I have several large bottle of Primal Defense.
SCOT, thanks for your reply but being a skeptic I dont know how to value your recommendations that you post on your web site since you seem to be making money from your lyme disease this could lead to a bias on your part when looking at different products.
You never seem to answer ?? on this site without getting the questioner to go to your site so you can register another hit thereby showing your sponsers you are worthy of their continued $$$ support.
Im not sure this isnt my paranoia but it does make me question how to value you responses. Sorry if I offended but Im an upfront person and dont mean to be rude just straightforeword.

Hi Sofy, I have also been taking Primal Defense for years on the recommendation of Dr Mercola and others. Anyway, I too noticed the new ingredient (fermented molasses) and actually just emailed the company regarding this addition....should hear back soon. Curious, how much do you take a day?? I don't think I have noticed any difference from the new label brand--I am often boated, but also eat a high amount of veggies a day. Will keep you updated. Best, Carrie

You can take the recommendations for what they are - products that I use to recovery from Lyme myself and that I hope will help others. I have used Primal Defense, and I think it is a relatively poor product. If you contact the company and ask them specifically about the content of probiotics in their product, they will tell you themselves that there is very little. You will hear the HBO/SBO studies, but after having taken if for a quite some time, am not convinced it stands up to other products available. I make zero from VSL3, zero from Custom Probiotics, zero from Florastor, etc.
As for money, I make a small amount money from very very few products and recommendations on the site and in most cases, I could recommend any product and still make money if I wanted to. For example, Vitacost pays web sites a small referral for any products that people by through them. They carry thousands of high quality producs at the best prices. I could suggest any of those thousands of products, but I don't. I suggest those that I personally take. In fact, my supplement list is updated monthly and shows you the products that I myself use to fight Lyme Disease. To date, for all supplement recommendations from the site, I have made less than $100 in supplement referral fees as that is not my focus. Additionally, many of the supplements I recommend have absolutely no affiliate program and I make nothing for recommending them (Jernigan, Dr. K, Organic Pharmacy etc.). If the goal was to make money, I would certainly not suggest products that I could not make money from recommending. For example, I am a big believer in Rechts-Regulat and I make zero, nada, zip from any such recommendation.
Any other monies that I have made from the site have been almost entirely donated to Lyme Disease Association, the upcoming Under Our Skin film, and other relevant causes. I use the remaning monies to send Lyme Awareness bracelets - cost me about $1.40 each.
So, rest assured, I never recommend something that I don't believe in.
That said, I understand and respect your concern and would be asking the same question.

Hey Sofy, Here is what the Garden of Life staff told me:
Dear Carrie,
Thank you for your email and interest in Garden of Life's products. The fermented molasses is used as food for the probiotics. The molasses is totally consumed during the fermentations process, therefore there is none in the finished product. Garden of Life believes that this will not affect Candida in anyway since there is no molasses in the finished Primal Defense.
Yours in health..
Barbara

SCOT, thanks so much for reassuring my paranoia, cant I blame lyme???? It does come in handy some time.
FRECKER:, thanks for the info. I wrote them too but got no response. I also asked why the failed to address the missing "organic" from the new label.

Coach,
Primal defense is a pill you take after the antibiotic that puts back all the GOOD bacteria (can you believe that exists) in your stomach to help you digest well. I think people call them probiotics>
Scott has been a big help to me, he always takers the time to email me back and we have discussed different products. I have really appreciated his help...
