Sorry if the answer to this turns out to be stupidly, glaringly, obvious. I'm sure that's more than likely.
I've been taking Mepron for something like 7 weeks now and every time the bottle runs out a day or even two early -- before I can get it refilled. I'm nearly certain I measure my doses accurately, so I think it has to do with the last bit of Mepron sticking to the inside of the bottle. Has anyone else has this problem with Mepron? Is there a solution?
I really hate to waste Mepron!

Maybe try to measure it all out when you first get the next bottle. I will be getting my first next week and may try that as well based on your comments. Has it helped you?

I also add water, shake and take the last 2 doses by rinsing the bottle. Scientific? hardly . . . but when you pay $18 a tsp out of pocket you would be amazed at your thought processes.
The drugstore sells a small syringe medicine plunger (infant medicine dispenser) that will measure 1 tsp exactly and when you push out the medicine it leaves no residue. I would think that would get you close to correct amount of doses.
I always check the side of the bottle to make sure that I received the correct amount (and that the pharmacist mixed it correctly) when I receive the bottle. Note- I recently started counting pills also and 3 of the last 5 perscriptions (from 2 separate pharmacies) were not correct - they were short - 2 of them by 30 pills.
When I get close to the end of the bottle, I store it on its side so it has less distance to travel. When I get to the end I rinse the bottle. I always have the exact number of doses that I need.

Scott - I'm not sure that you would want to try this after you see it. It is a very thick liquid and it sticks to everything. Trying this maybe counterproductive in that you could lose doses trying to verify the doses.
When you take this on a metal spoon, you have to lick the spoon a couple times to get all the yellow off.
Maybe if it was dispensed in a glass bottle rather than a plastic bottle? Is anyone here getting mepron in a glass bottle? It sticks like crazy to plastic.

Oh, I am so happy not to be taking that so-called-banana-flavored yellow highway paint any more.
I did several rounds when I first started treatment way back when.
The suggestion about the infant syringe dispenser was what worked best for me. It left NO residue. Otherwise I was standing at the sink for five minutes rinsing and rinsing to get the last drop of each dose.
That infant syringe was also my most accurate way of measuring doses.
Good luck with that! Pea

I have a great way to avoid the problem of getting the last drops out of the bottle - get it in the individual sachets (packets). You can get a box with 42 pre-measured 1 tsp. packets of Mepron and I believe (my pharmacist told me) it's actually less expensive than the bottle (which sounds backwards but it may be true). Ask your pharmacist about getting it in the sachets/packets - you don't need a specific prescription (or at least I didn't) and it makes it so much easier to get the right doses without worrying about measuring. It's also a whole lot easier to travel with it - you can just take a few packets with you and not worry about leaving the whole bottle in your car or desk or anywhere.

Hi, For anyone taking liquid meds, never measure with a kitchen measuring spoon or a soup spoon or the like. They are not acurate. Instead use a dose cup or one of those pediatric measuring spoons. That was an issue for many of my pharmacy customers...they were always running out of the liquid ABT. Just a suggestion.

Okay, so if I ever have to take it again, I'll go with the dropper. As it was, I took it to my pharmacist before I ran out, and he was able to give me just a little extra to compensate for the coating action.
"Banana" flavored??? The package insert said citrus-flavored, and no self-respecting lemon I ever had tasted as bad as that, lol!

I always ran out early also. I hate the taste. Yucko. But loved the results.
So all in all loved mepron. Really helped me get better.
I used to turn the bottle upside down into a shot glass to get every last drop. Never added water or anything even though I thought about it.
My insurance alotted for refilling mepron 7 days early. Can you beleive BCBS of NY does that? Blew me away.
