Does anyone ever have to turn off your abx when infusing because your heart rate shoots up or you start feeling funny? I have this happen all the time but I am not allergic or anything. Just wondering if I am alone.

Good morning Tidegal,
I would suggest slowing down the drip rate of your IV.
The 'suggested' rate is not necessarily the best rate for everyone, and many find that by slowing it down, those symptoms will diminish.
My best, Melanie

I echo what Melanie said. I can really never run my IV abx at the rate listed on the bag because it makes me feel too sick (mostly with nausea, but also with just an all-over yucky feeling and sometimes with the heartrate thing you were talking about). I'm on IV Primaxin right now and the rate on the bag is 30 minutes but I run it over an hour. I did the same with my last IV antibiotic (IV Clinda) and to some extent with IV Rocephin, although that one didn't affect me quite as badly as the others.
Maybe try slowing it down and see if that helps. You could also check with your IV nurse and see if they have any thoughts.
