I went to a walk in medical center. The dr was super nice, sat down next to me and everything. He used to be an ER doctor. He even said you can get bit by a tick anywhere. Im not going to label him a duck just yet.

Anyway, i have a bladder infection based on the litmus test....WBC, blood, keytone(i think that is the spelling) I couldnt believe it....

I questioned how this could happen being on abx and he said they could have caused it, because the flora in that area changed and was perfect for new bacteria to flourish. Im just shocked that i have a bladder infection. He also sent the urine out to be analyzed to see what bacteria is causing my infection.

He gave me
Levaquin
Phenazopyridine (like azo)
Toradal for pain
and Diflucan (in case i get yeast) 2 tablets only.

Im worried about the Levaquin....will i herx etc....
i just want the pain to go away.

Back before my diagnosis with lyme - I had reoccuring bladder infections that MacroBid would never cure.

Always had to take Levaquin or Zithromax to get them to go away...these now happen to be two abx's that also have killed the ketes for me.

I think lyme bacteria can show up as just general old bacteria when tested for - for instance before treatment on a breath test from my gastroenternologist that I asked to take for small intestine infection it was positive...I feel it was lyme...

Take care and hope you feel better. You might herx.

You need to drink lots of fluids, cranberry juice is good for bladder infections.

CGU, my sympathies to you. I've had IC and blddr infections and they are the worst. Far worse than a Herx for me. Elmiron helped the IC and Leva and Pyridium helped the infection. Nevermind the orange pee. Part of the Pyridium. We've been there, it's no fun but you're in our thoughts. Hang in there and feel better.

I know the pain well...its terrible.

All I can say is, the more you pee the better you will feel overall, drink a LOT--it will help wash the bacteria out. Baths, heating pads and MSM pills instead of cranberry juice or pills will help me everytime.

Hope your feeling better soon [group hug]

could be yeast too. If the culture shows no bacteria ask them to look for yeast. Good luck and I hope it clears soon!

Sorry you are feeling so badly. UTIs are horrible.

In my last post I was not intending to say you were herxing...I said you might herx.

I think for me though my UTIs were definitely the lyme in my urinary tract not some other bacterial infection.

I have read a lot that they like to live in this area. For me when I finally got lyme treatment all this tissuey stuff started coming out of me in my urine the first two months then I haven't had that happen again.

Anyway, take it easy and hope you kick that UTI to the curb soon.

Ive had the white tissue stuff too..... i really wonder what it is??

I did take your first comment as i might herx....i took half the abx just to be on the safe side.... i want to check with my LLMD as to what i should do now that I am on this....when to switch back to the other abx etc.

I hope this UTI gets kicked real hard to the curb and never returns!!!!

All my other lyme symptoms arent present right now...such an odd disease.

Sorry about the UTI. That has been a biggie for me for years. Drink lots and lots of water. Skip the cranberry juice as the sugar feeds the bacteria and makes the UTI worse. Cranberry juice (the unsweetened concentrated type) is better as a preventative. Reconstitute with water and add stevia for sweetening.
