I've been on doxy for 1 year now and this last month have started to go down hill. I dont have money or insurance for the dr. right now because I'm going through a divorce. I am trying to talk to my dr. over the phone but my work schedule is in the way. Does your body get immune to the meds or is it just another phase of the disease? Angie

That's ALL you've been on is Doxy???

Wow, I would imagine you ARE immune by this time. Usually IF you are just going on antibiotics and no herbs, you only run the same abx for a short period, then switch to something else, with usually a short break in between the two.

I personally am on Tetracycline right now. Has been a week. BUT I have been on many herbs for about 6 weeks. I will only be on Tet for about 28 DAYS, then will take week off of abx, then go to Amoxicillin for 28 days, then 7 days off and one to Doxycycline for about 28 days.

ALL this time I will be on a heavy dosage of herbal remedies with out taking a break from them as THEY build you up. Abx do kill a lot of the Sipirochetes, but also kill tons of good bacteria also.

What kind of doctor would prescribe JUST Doxycycline for a year?

In all probability the borrelia is resistant to doxy. Cyst forms (just one mechanism of resistance) would be able to overcome doxy. I gave up and went total natural to a great effect. The main weapon I use is mild silver protein and a silver complex from invision.
So far I'm making progress against an incurable infection. (chronic strep)
best of luck

I've heard of people getting well on long term oral doxy but they had to increase the dosage to 600 per day. If you are already at that level then in all probability the bacteria has become resistant to doxy.

Your health is worth more than anything! It's your life.

You are probably experiencing a platue and the stress of divorce is making you sick.

Maybe when you finally get a hold of the LLMD you can get an new cheaper antibiotic. Some of them are pretty cheap. Don't know which?

Call the pharmacy and ask them.

Go for it! Take care of yourself.
