well first off thanks to all of you that raised the question of my low dosage of doxy? 200 mg a day.

i pulled a tick off in june and started this dosage of doxy in july and have been on this since today.
another thanks to those who refered me to a LLMD in CT by the nam of DR. P.

He seemed very knowledgeable and nice and was concerned about my dosage as well. So he just wrote me a script tonight to start TETRACYCLINE 500 mg, three times a day.

My question is this, He said to be ready to herx, well first of can a herx be defined by anything or just a flare up of symptoms and secondly has anyone gone from doxy to tetra and herxed hard?
I am a wimp with this herx thing and am a bit nervous so what can i expect to experience with a herx.
Any have any imput on TETRA that have taken it, like side effects and such....thank you

The possibility of herxing makes trying to understand what is going on even more confusing. It can be a worsening of existing symptoms or new ones. Various poeple have recommendations about how to alleviate the discomfort. I drink a tea whose main ingredient is dandelion root. It's called Detox Tea and is made by Yogi Tea Company. You should be able to find it at most health food stores. It usually helps me quite a bit. There is another tea made by the same company called Peach Detox Tea and I have been told it's ineffective for this.

thanks david, i guess i have a heard time putting my question right to the point.
i guess i am wondering if it is possible to feel just as bad as i did in the begining when i thought the grim reaper was standing at the foot of my bed.
i dont know if i can take that.
my doctor said i probably herxed off of the doxy but i was so sick i dont think the herx stood out. thank you though i will try to find the tea tommorow.

DJ,
My experience was that my doctor phased-in my medications. One Zithromax a day for a month, Then two Zithromax a day for a month. Then added Bicillin once a week for four doses. Then increased Bicillin to every six days for four doses.....
With each step, I encountered another "layer" of herxing. Now, I had been ill and untreated for at least twelve years, and was going down fast, so my bactrial load was probably pretty high. Your load might be lower.
It probably won't be pleasant but you should be ok.

Hi DJ

The herx reaction can very widely--
Sence you have been on ABX from
the time you were infected-
your herx might not be so bad--

As the germ load goes down
the herx reactions tend to be less-

Also for some reason men seem to
have less herx reaction overall--
Sometimes it pays to be a male--

My herxes are not real bad
and so far I usually get a migrane
for a few days--Its worth it tho --

Drink lost of water and tea--
Hang in there--Jay--
