I am grateful to the Lyme community for the outpouring of support for me in my case before the Connecticut state medical board.
We have set up a legal defense fund so that I can present the most effective case before the board.
The details of how to contribute to my fund are set forth in the letter below.
Thank you again for all your help.
Dr. Charles Ray Jones - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Dear Friends,
During this winter after the holidays when we have much to be grateful for and are in a charitable frame of mind, please remember the man who has been there to diagnose and treat chronic Lyme and tick-borne diseases for our children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces: Dr Charles Ray Jones. Please also remember the man who has treated many of our children promptly so that today they are not plagued by the burden of a lifelong illness.
On January 26th (or a later date if he is granted a continuance) Dr Jones will begin his hearings with the Connicticut Board of Medicine. Long before that first hearing date even takes place, his legal expenses will be enormous. So he rerally does need financial support NOW !
Dr Charles Ray Jones has been there to help our children seven days a week for many years. He has treated more than 7,000 children with chronic Lyme disease. Now, HE needs OUR help !
This is a man who marched with Martin Luther King. This is a man who puts himself and his career on the line every day for our children.
If you've ever pondered spiritually about what it would take for a person to be a real saint, you need look nowhere else!
This man's integrity and committment to children is far beyond reproach.
Please make a generous contribution ON BEHALF OF OUR CHILDREN by forwarding your checks to Dr Jones' accountant at:
"The Dr Charles Ray Jones Legal Defense Fund" c/o George Heath, III (CPA) 26 Fairlawn Drive Wallingford, CT 06492 (203) 782-4343
Please also write the word "gift" in the memo field. Legal defense funds are not tax deductible, and tax exempt Lyme disease organizations are not permitted to contribute to these funds. It is up to those of us who know what a horror that this illness can be to help Dr. Jones get the best legal representation possible by contributing to this fund.
100% of your donation will go directly to the legal defense of Dr Jones. His case is critical to all children with Lyme and it's outcome will have a tremendous impact on all LLMD's in the future! We lost Dr Petrucha a number of years ago. If we loose Dr Jones, where will our children go for proper diagnoses and treatment of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases?
This is truly a CALL FOR ACTION ! If you should need further information, please call Dr Jones' office at (203) 772-1123.
Thank you sincerely in advance for your help !
Best wishes, John Coughlan

I can send what I rec'd as Christmas gift money.
And a dear best friend of mine is sending something small (what she can) as a Christmas gift to me. She knows nothing ab. Lyme but trusts me when I talk ab. the seriousness of this.
Thank you, John, for this reminder.
The holidays distracted a lot of us, I'm sure (including me). As Lymies it can take so much out of us to do the family gatherings. I crashed a lot after the gatherings (but maybe bec. I ate sugar things, too).
Now it is a good reminder to re-focus our attention where it is much, much needed.
Thank you for posting this, John.
I believe 100% that other doctors who are willing but wary about treating kids w. Lyme properly will be watching this one, and a negative outcome will hurt children now and in the future. Perhaps irrevocably. We CANNOT let this happen if our contributions can make a difference.
Have not met you John but hope to one day.
Thank you very much for this reminder.

PS
The natural tendency is to assume that others will do it and so the need for us to act is not great.
This is not one of those times.
Each of us is needed, not only to contribute what we can and are willing to, but to show that we exist IN NUMBERS.
Thank you all very much!

I haven't visited this site in months, if in a year. Something drew me to this site this a.m.--beside the Levequin, and insomnia....We'll do what we can--my husband and I. We both suffer from Late Stage or Chronic Lyme. We've both had it for over 40 years and didn't know it. By the time we were getting treatment for it, it may already be to late. But maybe for the children, the good doc. can still be enabled to make a difference in their lives. Don't give up. We need you so desperately. There are alot of children like myself who grew up with this disease in No. West Arkansas ( I belive to be epidemic there). We'll send what we can. God Bless.

What about his malpractice insurance?
Malpractice policies do cover defense costs usually outside of the policy limits. (in other words, if you carry $1,000,000 coverage, you would have $1,000,000 plus unlimited defense cost) I know these policies are designed to respond to lawsuits from patients. Wouldn't they also cover charges of malpractice from peers?

Medical review board cases are not covered by malpractice insurance, unfortunately.
That's why the LLMD witch hunts connected with fincancial interests on eliminating 'outside the box' treatments - proceed in this manner.. they use these processes to break the knees of the physician financially even just through the process of mounting a defence during the review.
many doctors give up because they loose everything they have, savings, home, ect.

Mailed my check on Saturday. My daughter & her husband are sending a check, too.
This week she will send a well written description of her son's ordeal with Lyme disease & how he has improved since Dr J has been treating him.
I shudder to think what would have happened to my grandson if the wonderful people on LymeNet had not recommended Dr J. He's an awesome physician!!!

To all, have you read the latest letter from Ellenlube stating Dr. Jo's newest letter to all.
Ellenlube is the DESIGNATED REP to bring up all up to date on accurate info. Please read it...top of medical & general support areas.
Addresses are in there.
I sugest this thread be copied & added to Ellen's or just deleted to avoid confusion.

Here's the address, Luvs.
Betty, Yes, Ellen is the spokesperson from the Jones camp to us on communications and action alerts..
I am under the impression that the main thread at the top should be mainly pertinant, most current updated info..
-- but that other threads on the 'moving board' in support or discussion, or rallying are OK too I would think.
That way, maybe we can keep the 'main thread' somewhat more concise and still have various support messages and keep rallying while not overloading the info thread..
This is a 'headline' issue for the community.
It helps to hear from everyone who is doing what they can!
Many Thanks and Blessings to ALL!
