Hi,

14yr old daughter has been on IV for 6wk. Rocephin dose slowly built from 1grm 3x wk to 2gms,then last 2 wks 2grm Rocephin daily and Clyndamyiacin 2x daily 600mg every other day.

Will have talk with dr today.(daily event, lately)

but you are so much faster and help me (and dr, really) figure things out.

So I have some questions for you guys.

Has anyone had "heart herxes" on similar regimin?

She has wierd feeling like it is moving a weird way. Not exactly pain, but comes on like pain.
Does hurt a little. Seem to occur within hour or so of infusing. Does have acid reflux, but this feels really different.

She is minimizing her herxes overall because she wants to nucleate the lyme without breaks. More hutzpa than tired Mom at this pt.

Has had heart pain all along, EKG this summer was clear, but you know how little that can mean.

I am hopeful this is lyme in heart being driven into the dark abyss forever. But getting too intense.

I have read about heart patients having depression and she has had more trouble with
this lately. Up til 3:30 with her watching movie to get through spike of dark thoughts. (Thank God she tells me and he is giving me strength to stay awake nightly to moniter)

Do you think the hopelessness and depression could be exacerbated or related to heart problems or herx?

I am sure this will mean an abx break...I think it is about time to rotate abx anyway.

Thanks for listening,
Char

I think the depression is definitely a herx. Not sure if it's connected to the heart problems. Ya never know what causes what.

Sounds scary. Glad you're calling the dr!

Keep us posted, OK?

While anything is possible and glad you are talking with doc about this, I was under the impression that when folks are talking about depression and the heart, that they were talking about heart patients get depression alot.

In other words, take my cousin, for example. He had open-heart surgery and soon after developed severe depression.

But, I do not believe that having a "heart herx" would lead to depression. However, having LD and fighting it over a long period of time will and does sometimes cause depression.

I had both heart herx & deression while on IV .
My PVC's where really bad & then finally dissapeared.

The depression & dark thoughts was too.But I don't think the herxing in my heart(the die off)
Caused the depression.

The PVC's where really bad & went to a Cardio doc to get full work up just to be on the safe side. You might want to ask your LLD about doing this?

Hang in there. It is brutal at times but does get better. [group hug]

Hi,

Dr. stopped clindamycin for now. She didn't have the heart stuff yesterday. He will check in this morning to plan for wkend.
Have an appt Mon, so we can look at different abx combination. We got 6 600mg doses in along with daily rocephin, so hopefully that put some dent in bacterial load.

I think the rocephin is hard emotionally, but managable. Adding the clin puts it over.

Dana,

She has had 2 clear ekgs...will keep heart wkup in mind; but I feel like abx are helping and problems will clear if we can treat in a way that is bearable. I am picturing a bunch of inconlusive tests even tho there is all kinds of lyme involvement. Forgive me if I am too negative.

Lymetoo-

It is scarey.

The kids from church are coming over Sunday to have a little service and encouragement time. Of course, she rallied last night and attended teen group in her I won't show I am sick mode. So I will have to make sure Sunday is still on. Folks are trying, like us to understand what is going on and what needs are.

Also, a dear friend is coming over weekly to do scrapbooking with her.

I am also wking on my 12yr old doing claymation,so we will have an Occupational Therapy Studio over here which beats the hospital/opium den atmosphere last January!

Thanks for listening!

Char
