I am finally recovering from the thyroid cancer and treatment...it has been a long road, VERY HARD RECOVERY, mostly due to my inablity to research properly how to go about treatment.

I would never delay everything for my convienence, of visitors for Thanksgiving and Christmas...if I had another thyroid to give!!!LOL... ever again.

Thyroid cancer and Radiation with nuero Lyme JUST DOES NOT MIX. (I did a stint of IV abx for 7 weeks, between surgery and radiation.) The radiation was horrible. My body burned so bad. I wonder if it is because I have Lyme, 4x infected, 29 yrs.

Has anyone else ever had to go through this? Ofcourse my endo will not treat or talk about my Lyme >>>>. (period)
Please bump!
I really feel kind of alone in this [Frown]

Thank you, Shar

This is a rather specific question so i don't know if you will get any answers.
With that in mind I will tell you what i know.
I have an associate that was given Radio iodine to solve a persistently recurring problem of thyroid storm.
He is 100% back to normal and in the long term tolerated the treatment well. He did not have Lyme though.

Also radioiodine specifially accumulates in the thyroid so the actual dose in the balance of the body is very very low.
I would therfore think that unless you have been treated for metastasis the issues that you have been having must be thyroid related. But this is only a guess.

It sounds like you are desperate for information, Sorry I can't offer anything else.

Thank you David for your reply. I know it is a very specific question but I was hoping with all the thyroid problems with Lyme someone else went through this.

I have not heard of "storm". I had to take 100mCi of RAI, which is the norm for cancer. But I was in isolation for 5 days with the plastic eating utensils, 3x flush the toilet etc. And when I did my laundry my sweat pants had dark stains on them, like sweat creases.

But mostly, I am concerned if it all gets out of your system when your body already has kidney problems and nueropathy. It just hurts and burns, on my skin and inside my skin, my stomach and bladder, too.

Thank you David for your response, you sound very knowledgeable [Big Grin]

If you are really worried I will take a look at my books on the subject to let you know the biological half life.

It has been a long time since I did any work on that subject but i am pretty sure it is relatively short time before you loose the activity due to both the isotope half life and the biological fate.

Only the biological fate could be affected by insufficiency of the organs.

In either case it will all go out at some point.

Let me know and i will check on specifics. (it may take a couple of days though)
