Does florinef for neurocardiogenic instability make you hungry, make you gain weight, blow you up like a balloon? Anybody been on it long term with not weight gain or ill side effects? Does it really help the NCI? Has anyone seen any definitive University studies linking the neurocardiogenic syncope problem with Lyme? thanks

I went on flurinef and literally gained 35 lbs in 2 weeks. Needless to say it was fluid gain. I have a major fluid problem anyway so I suspect that this is an abnormal gain for most people but then I don't know if lymies are more prone to fluid retention or not. I do suspect that fluid is a problem when someone gains a lot of weight quickly. I was taking it for a low blood volume due to low red blood cell mass. I stopped right away.

It did for me! I was incessantly hungry while on it. I didn't last long on it....maybe a week. I told my LLMD "no way." I'd rather pass out than be so hungry that nothing satisfied me.

I've been on florinef for 4 years. I tested positive on the tilt table test. It has helped me significantly and my weight has remained stable.

Florinef can be helpful when you have NMH. I used it for awhile when I was really bad with it. It did make me retain fluid and gain weight. I wasnt hungry on it though. It helped me along with Atenolol and Zoloft. I went off it after a year as I improved. the idea is that the Lyme inflames the Vagus nerve leading from brain to heart and causes the neurocardiogenic syncope.

I was on florinef for a few days, but it didn't really agree with me, so I stopped. A natural alternative that works in the same way as florinef is licorice root (helps your kidney retain fluids). It can raise your blood pressure, but if you're like me, that was a good thing [Wink] And I didn't have any trouble with weight gain on it.
