Hi Nal:
I think it is a herx.

After being on it for 9 days, I had to skip a day (yesterday) due to extreme stomach pain, cramps, bloating. Was fine when I got up today, and took it again tonite.

Dosing instructions say to moderate dose if you have problems (skip a dose), and it worked.

I still think that this stuff is the best thing since baked bread!

Hope this helps.

Nal,
I am getting stomach pain and some nausea with it as well. I am trying every other day to see if that helps. I also take it with a cup of ginger-lemon tea.

I also chew some ginger gum which helps. My stomach has been a mess since taking Diflucan! Hope it eases for you.

Since it has been two weeks ,you can try it everyother day. They says you can do this every other day, after two weeks.

are you sure it is the Theralac? And not something you are eating.

Are you taking it with 8 oz of water?

I hope it will work out for you .Since I started ,not one yeast infection.Very unusal for me.

Take care

Is the theralac dosage 1 at bedtime? I have been taking that for almost a week and haven't noticed a problem.

That's a probiotic- right?
I don't think it's a herx.
I think you're introducing a new bacterial species into the intestinal tract- and they are repopulating - hense the intense feelings you have
(as they'[re pretty gaseous when they mulitply).

Its a good thing- as your natural flora may be more balanced after probiotics

Ill cut it down to every other day and see what happens. The info that came with it does say you can experience herxheimer type reactions while on it

Interesting post. I just started it in the last week or so and have had lots of stomach growling and nausea for the past five days... Wonder if it is related. Will certainly be stopping it to see...

I'm doing great with Theralac. I just started by 2nd bottle. No side effects. No yeast infections. I'm still on strict anti yeast diet but can cheat a little now that I'm on theralac.

My tongue has returned to a normal color. Bowel movements are more regular and slightly softer (just right), no gas.

Hats:

Are you taking it every other day while on ABX or daily?

My daughter is on Theralac. She took it for 2 weeks every day, and then backed off to the recommended twice a week. Is this enough? How can you tell? We had a probiotic acidophilis formula from Puritan's Pride that was working and I have had her take that on the days she does not do the Theralac. Theralac is so expensive I want her on the lowest dose that will do the job. But do not want it too low. Any feedback appreciated!

Thanks,

Due to Lyme I can't exactly remember what I did but I think I started by taking Theralac everyday for 2 weeks (or maybe it was one week) then I switched to every other day with other probiotics on the off days.

To keep the cost down I'm now rotating Theralac, Primadophilus Reuteri (also survives stomach acid)& Primal Defense. I take the probiotics before bed. On Primal Defense day I take one at lunch and one at bedtime. This way a bottle of Theralac will last approx 3 months.

I also picked up some Trader Joes enteric coated probiotic, really cheap. Not very strong so I sometimes take two a few hours after my morning abx.

The price of Theralac seems to have come down. I might start taking it everyday or every other day since it really works the best.

I think we need to take probiotics everyday since the abx keep killing off the good stuff.

I just started my third bottle of Theralac.

I take one every night at bedtime.

I do not follow any special diets at all. My way of eating is almost exclusively fish and vegetables anyway (east coast/Newfoundland background). However, I do have coffee with cream and sugar every morning and really pay very little attention to yeast concerns. Maybe my regular eating habits permit me to get away with this.

However, there were signs it was catching up with me.

The Theralac improved my constantly-brown tongue within a week or so when scraping, rinsing, Nystatin, etc. would not help.

Minor irritations of delicate areas which normally would herald a yeast attack are now GONE. Banished.

I think despite the cost, it's worth it to just quit stressing over the YEAST BEAST.

Im happy with the product. I have been taking it every day but will cut it back now to every other day. My stomach still burns and I do get naueseous still from time to time. I wish I would just go the bathroom on a very regular basis though but I am still not. Oh well
