I have been taking Primal Defense for well over a year, and I have had stomache aches and other stomach problems on and off for several months now.

A friend pointed out it could be the Primal Defense, so I am taking a break from it and replacing the Solgar Acidophilous 40+ instead.

Has anyone noticed if they may have developed stomach problems from Primal Defense?

(Apparently the S. Bourlardii can get out control and become systemic infection also).

I never noticed any problems, but I don't think it is even close to the best option for a probiotic on the market and stopped taking it.

Thanks guys.

I will look into adding another brand also on top of the Solgar, while I give PD long or permanent break.

I have taken primal defense for about a year and havn't noticed any chages, good or bad.

I feel it is a piss poor pro-biotic but may have other health benefits as sited in "The maker's Diet"

I love theralac and think it is worth every penny.

And no,I am not trying to sell anything and don't have any tires to the company.
Just my own personal experience.

Take care

For probiotic, I use iFlora from Sedona Labs.

This is hard to find...and it isn't cheap. But it's shelf-stable and doesn't upset my stomach. It's also supposed to be a very strong supplement, and considering my level of abx, I feel I need that.

I used primal defense for 16 months without problems. My digestion has been fine throughout this whole ordeal.

I recently switched to Theralac (not Threelac) and it is amazing. I can even eat a little fruit without yeast getting out of control!

There have been many recent posts about Theralac (www.theralac.com).

I discussed Primal Defense yesterday with a supplement-friendly dietician and she said that with soil organisms there is a risk of e-coli, etc. That scared me off. For a probiotic I'm trying Natren Trinity, which has 3 strains. And for saccaromyces boullardii there's Jarrow or Florastor. Also I'm adding Culturelle, which is a specific kind of acidopholus lactobacilus.

It does get rather confusing. I haven't researched it, so I don't know if it's true, but was told that the UK won't allow Primal Defense to be marketed there. Has anyone heard anything about that? I don't have anything against the company -- I just discovered these products. And now I'm wondering what to do about them.

Thanks again everyone.

As far as I know you can buy Primal Defense in the UK, at a higher cost than US, of course (about twice the price).

I don't think I'll go back on the PD now until I can be sure that overgrowth of the organisms in them are not a threat, even if my stomach recovers now I'm not on it.
