Hi, anybody know if there are specific symptoms which point to Bartonella? I had major improvement while on Rocephin but am slipping again while on followup on orals.

I had a bad herx before I was dxed while on Levaquin for kidney stone surgery. This makes me think I may have it.... THanks for your help

Read Dr. K's info linked from my site below or direct at www.neuraltherapy.com. Look Beyond ABX talks about the symptoms of Bart.

Continuous, splitting sinus headache

Severely swollen lymph nodes (neck feels like an over-full water balloon)

Sore throat

Crabby, angry temper

Shin splints, difficulty sitting in a chair for long period without leg pain

Rashes

Scritchy, red eyes

Sore foot soles

Inflammation at base of neck

Observation that even a tiny amount of rifampin reduces symptoms almost immediately.

Some of these symptoms can be suppressed, but not cured, by Lyme antibiotics. It can also be almost interchangeable with Lyme.

For me, levaquin didn't work, but rifampin and ketek (with tons of liver support) did the trick in five months. Most people get better in 3-4 months.

Liz, I PMd you. I'm glad I read this thread cause it sounds alot like me.

Most of my symptoms are from the neck up. Ears feel infected, eyeballs red and glassy, lymph nodes engorged, constant headache. My sternum hurts (wierd) soles of feet are achy. Shin splints!

Thanks for posting, I will look more closely at Bart. I am relieved to read liz success in a matter of months.

Kim

humanbeing, your sternum pain is not so weird. I've had that for 6 years. The first 4 years it was almost constant, especially laying down. The last couple years it comes and goes very infrequently.

But now it's another thing that makes me wonder about the bart. Because I too have sore soles, shin pain, and a blood dot rash all over my body.

Bart abx were the abx that sent me over the edge. I stopped abx and went to alternative treatment almost 3 yrs ago.
