Hope THAT one got your attention.
It is a real question though.
I discovered the exquisite pleasure of peeing in the bath, which is RELIEVING to say the least, as a result of colon/rectal surgery a few years ago. It was the ONLY way I could pee after the surgery for 3 days.
(Dont you just LOVE these medical boards)
I now take 2-3 hour long hot baths every day and drink about 2 quarts of water while in there.
The other day I was thinking about me peeing in the bath and I thought---holy crap! You shed Bb in your urine! What if I am reinfecting myself?
So now I keep a "pee jar" which is actually plastic next to the tub.
Has anyone else thought about this?
I could be the only one peeing in the bath. That would not surprise me.
Just put it out there for comments, sillyness (but not mean-ness please) and anyone that might actually know if we could reinfect ourselves via urine?

Actually, the opposite may be the reality. It is probably not likely that you would get reinfected from urine touching your skin. However, auto-urine therapy is a very real treatment and one that is said to work for several people. The concept is that the urine contains DNA, fragments, etc. of the organisms which the immune system is no longer fighting in many cases. This is then filtered and reinjected into the body IM which over time exposes the immune system and entrains it to better fight the infections.
Now, I'm not sure what to say about peeing in the bath though.....

Interestingly and strangely, this came up as a tangential topic of conversation in my book group tonight.
Scott, somebody brought up the topic of auto-urine therapy. Go figure. It had to do with Howard Hughes (late millionaire/ eccentric). How this came up or was even remotely related to the book we had read is still a mystery.
But a number of people had heard of this therapy.
Personally, I couldn't get past the image of the ketes flooding back in...
whacky synchronicity...

I think you can pee in the bath if you want to, I dont think it will be harmful to you. Think of the fish in aquariums, they sure look healthy and they pee all day and swim in it, and they are so beautiful! You can pee on a wound in the wilderness too to sterilize it.

Well, some people are into 'urine therapy' - this sounds like the ultimate version.
I just wonder, do you have another bath after your pee-bath? (a pee-free one?)
I've always thought of swimming pools as giant 'tubs' with people's pee in them, consequently, I do not go to swimming pools.

When I was growing up, we had a fairly large kidney-shaped pool.
On the deck, for as long as I can remember, there was an ashtray that read: We don't swim in your toilet; please don't pee in our pool.
I never knew whether or laugh or be really embarrassed!

OK, this sounds gross but folk on here seem quite open minded so here goes........last year I had a patch of rough, red skin below each eye, very sore and itchy. I tried several different creams but none helped, the skin looked and felt horrible.
The doctor suggested a steroid cream but I had read about urine therapy helping eczema so tried dabbing fresh pee onto the skin with a cotton bud each morning and night. It really worked!!! Within two weeks there was no sign of redness, the skin was smooth and no more itching.
If you are squeamish you can wash it off with clean water after an hour but honestly it didn't smell or feel bad so I just left it. No-one ever knew.......oops..... till now!!!!

Think of what we could all save on our water bills...
Actually, Elinor, if you follow the link I posted earlier on this thread, there are a lot of pretty strong and legit-sounding testimonials.
This apparently had its genesis in Ayurvedic medicine in India.
I know when I was in India, I was afraid I was getting a cold or flu. I went to a doctor in this teeny tiny little office (with just the doc). She listened, sent me out with several packets of powders and charged me $12. I followed her instructions, and by the next morning, I was fine.
That experience, plus my negative Lyme ducks has made me a lot more wary of Western conventional medicine.
I figure whatever works...we're fighting for our lives here.
As my friend said last night: With Lyme, we have the job of being our own health advocates.

Well, supposedly, peeing on a jelly fish sting takes the pain out. Oft times the sting may be in a place where you may not be able to pee on yourself.
I have not actually tried this since I haven't been stung. I don't think I'd like it but might be grateful to the pee-er.

Okay, so pee on a rash can actually work!? I have a constant rash behind both my ears of all places. Only thing that has worked so far is a strong steroid. Why not try pee?? It is definitely cheaper.
I will let you know if I dared trying it, and if it worked. (Dont think I will let anybody else know, though.... )

OK, go ahead and have fun with that!!

WHY would you NOT go into a pool with peoples PEE in it? WOuld you go into the pool, IF you were the only perosn to use it? CHlorine and all?
The chlorine is supposed to get rid of all germs in the pool, just like in many cities drinking water.
BUT, THAT is the mentality of our Western Society.
KILLING!
THAT is what Chlorine does. Just like antibiotics. They BOTH Kill.
NOW, from reading all these posts, we see that maybe we SHOULD get into pools with a lot of other people PEEING in there. We just need to get rid of the Chlorine, right?

trails, yeah maybe if Tutu put that bottom of hers in the tub once in a while, she would find her bottom warmer and less toxic.
Tutu, you need one of bath cushions that attach to the bath wall, so when you lay back you are more comfortable. A detox bath is the best. I just finished mine. Epsom and baking soda and warm water make me feel like a new woman.
I swear it takes away my aches and pains for several hours and gives me great energy. I only do 15 minutes at the most. On toxic days I will do a morning and night detox.
I'll have to think some more on this peeing thing.

Yeah, I think I need one of those pillows. It's the neck that hollers at me when I try to do stuff like that.
I'll skip the peeing tho!

It may be weird, gross etc. but if you were 100 miles into the wilderness and you got a major cut or wound, and could not get medical attention, urine can be used to sterilize it, in fact, some folks have had their lives saves by having maggots and leeches clean their wounds! yeah gross, but its natural!

I know about urine... In fact, I worked on small cruise ships for awhile and we did a charity cruise with Mexican orphans once. There was a little boy that got stung by a jellyfish and one of the nuns that accompanied the children peed on it. He felt better. I would pee on myself if there were no other means for survival.

Ok I must say I think I am insane for even LOOKING at this post. My next problem is the mental picture I get of a nun peeing on a little boy. How do you do that with all that habit stuff on?
Hmmmmmmmmm I do not think there would be enough pee vs. water to actually sanitize anything. That is unless you are taking a shallow bath. Is that a shiver or a tinkle?
And this is where you are supposed to go potty
Imagine 2 whole pages of this!

I can't beleive I'm going to tell you this..but here goes...
While in Hawaii years ago I was stung by a Portugeuse Man of War.. OMG it hurt SOOO bad..
My entire leg got swollen and the glands in my groan balooned up.. I started having a hard time breathing..
Long story short I should have gone to the ER...but you know how much faith we all have in ERs now...
so needless to say we followed the advice of the local staff working that morning and went back to our room to rest it off.
It started hurting so unbearably that I finally said to my husband "Do you think what they said will REALLY work?" And he said "It's worth a try"..
So I put my leg in the shower and closed the curtain and he tinkled on my leg!..The pain stopped immediately!
So after being married for only hours here my husband was peeeing on my leg!
The other symptoms didn't subside as quickly though...Geesh thoughs nasty jellies!
Daniella
ps. About the peeing in the bathtub...thingy...would you want to lay in someone elses pee? If not then I wouldn't lay there in my own...Although I'm one to talk after what you all know now...lol
