I was diagnoised in June with lyme but not a positive test. My kaiser primary care doc agreed to treat me baised on my out of network LLMD. Now my LLMD says I really need IV treatment but my kaiser PC doesn't have the authority to order one. She sent me to internal medicine and now they want to run all these tests bc according to their philosphy I don't have lyme and they can't believe I have been on orals for almost 8 monthes.
The bottom line is that Last month I tested postive for lyme so I NEED to have stronger anitbiotics to kill this bacteria but how can I get Kaiser to pay for it?
If they won't pay for ne of it-and their plan is to stop all meds in the next few weeks (luckily I have LOTS of meds saved up) then how can I get a picc line and rocephin? How much is it?
I am 21 years old-I have no job-my parents are already in major debt from the out of network LLMD I am seeing and I am really at a loss as to what to do.
Thanks! Lindsay

Hi Smiles,
Glad you can still smile!
These insurance companies are the pits.
My kids did IV abx and insurance would only cover 4wks. My husband got a drs explanation and kept after them. We got 6wks out of them.
Do you have a good lyme dr?
I have had lyme for 5yrs and have done orals for 9mos. I am quite a bit better. I would like to do IV, but my daughter is on IV and dr said 2 at a time too much.
If you can't get the IV. I will say a prayer that you can get it...
What abx have you been taking? Are you taking 2 at once? I have been taking combos of 2 and 3 at a time. This has synergic effect. A lot of people get well on these high dose combos.
Why are you alway jumping other people's cases? Are you a moderator? Some people are just looking for help and are newbies and don't know how to use the up function, so back down there and take your chill meds. Smiles, we will talk more about this one on one.
Lay off Betty...not all of us are perfect. If you want to be helpful, be nice about it and explain the up idea. Taking up space? I didn't know there was a limited amount of space. If people didn't want to respond if would fall off the list.
BE NICE, THIS IS A PLACE FOR HELP, NOT TO PUSH PEOPLE AWAY!

Smiles,
I am just really sorry that at your age you have to try to sort this out! It is a real shocker to ANY of us that the health insurance we pay for is a fraud. Let alone someone who is still on their parent's plan!
It is NOT fair and you deserve better.
I am not sure you will get any better treatment with Kaiser though.
I am very glad to hear that your family is supportive. It is okay and normal to feel guilty about the time, energy and $$$ this is taking up...you are NOT alone in these feelings!
Please keep us up to date about how you are doing, I know I do care about what happens to you, even if I doubt that Kaiser will be of any help.
It IS possible to get a LOT better with slow and steady oral antibioitic treatment. Even with central nervous system involvement. Please begin to discuss these options with your LLMD!
Take good care of yourself and keep fighting when you feel strong enough! Trails

cave and betty As a frequent contributor to lymenet-I find it extremely discouraging and negative to read your postings.
I am not re=posting to have the same people answer my question. New people enter this site all the time. I was hoping to get suggestions or feedback from people who haven't already posted.
I have kaiser and we all can agree that they suck. I have a great MD but what I was looking for was a solution not to be critized. This is suposed to be friendly and helpful not hurtful and discouraging.
