Has anyone here actually started treatment before getting a positive diagnosis? I am waiting for my test results and am not sure what to do if they come back negative. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Lesley

Hi Lesley.
You find yourself an LLMD (Lyme-literate medical doc). You give him your history. You 'spain your symptoms to him. He takes a detailed history. You bring whatever medical records you have from whatever ducks you've already seen.
Usually this appointment runs a coupla hours.
Based on this appointment, he or she will make a "clinical diagnosis.'
That's what Lyme really is, since the tests are s'posed to be only confirmatory anyway.
In fact, ALL doctors are s'posed to know this, but the sad truth is that reg'lar docs will kick you to the curb if your tests are negative, despite the fact that around 30% of culture-proven Lyme patients are seronegative.
So it's important to find an LLMD. Don't wait on test results, and 'specially don't wait on what you may consider "positive" test results, as these are open to interpretation. Remember too that even negative test results sometimes change dramatically after a trial of antibiotics.
RUN-don't walk - to an LLMD--so you can start getting better!

I agree with Michelle. If you're going to a doctor who is going to treat you based on a blood test, you need to find another doctor. I hope you can find an LLMD up there.
