Here in California suddenly we have cloudless skies and temperatures in the 70's.
If I was on Doxy again, I'd be running for cover.
Oh, last year when I was diagnosed, I was gonna outwit it. Oh, I was pretty smart. I read all the warnings. I saw Groovy's posts. I "heard" Hats & Scarves... But did that apply to ME??? NOOOOOO!!!! I was going fishing! Miss a whole trout season, fer cryin out loud??? I don't THINK SO!
So, when I wasn't slumped in a chair feeling like I was gonna throw up (and ulcerate my esophagus, whatever THAT means), I covered up everything. And went fishing.
Well, I guess I didn't count on the sun reflecting off the water.
I did well and caught lots of fish, and scoffed, "A POX on Lyme disease, HAH!" But I did notice my hands hurt really bad after a few hours. I thought, "This must be that 'Lyme arthritis' thing people talk about. Hmmm..."
Wrong. It was my fingerless gloves, letting the sun reflected off the water burn my fingers, which continued to burn in spite of being slathered with sunblock.
It took MONTHS to heal and hurt worse than anything you can imagine.
These pictures were AFTER the swelling went down, which took weeks.
By the time you notice pain, it will likely be TOO LATE. The damage is done.
Everyone on Doxy, please take note. Sun + Doxy = pain which you are unlikely to outwit!
Hugs, healing, and MAJOR CAUTION to ALL on this good but wicked med!

The date on the picture is September -- three months AFTER I had burned my fingers. You can see by the growth from the nail beds. It originally went all the way down. I couldn't use them for months! OWWWW!
A picture is worth a thousand words!

Wow that shoud make us all be VERY CAREFUL. Im in Ct. so not so sunny like my native CAlif. but I am pretty careful. Not able to do much anyway.
Am having my car windows tinted soon. The long drives to the doc etc are so hard to keep the sun off every part.
I do have garden gloves in the car to always wear when driving and yesterday i poked a paper towel inside the ear tip of my glasses to keep the sun off the small part of my face that the sun visor wouldnt protest.
It was either that or kill my back leaning way over. I was loverly.

OMG! Michelle---we follow in eachother's footsteps YET again!
I had this SAME thing in 2001! With the incredibly painful rash AFTER the fact on the tops of my hands and then a month or so after THAT---the FINGER NAIL THING!
I was in MAINE--by the ocean, covered everything except the tops of my hands!
It was so so so painful!
I have written about it here before--I had to drive from Maine back to NEw Mex with tube socks on my hands--and give the toll people my change with my socks on my hands--they were scarred for life!
Apparently many medical things show up in our finger nails a month after....when you have a heart attack- if you live, a dermatolist can tell by looking at your fingernails!
Great--awful photos! Trails
