I have a friend whose husband's has lyme. I know he is really bad like stuttering his words walking with a cane and Bell Palsy
He has tested positive for Lyme. I have called Dr Jone's office for a recommendation of some one in New York so he is seeing someone who came recommended from Dr. Jones's office.
They have been arounding around from this doctor to that. He has had many tests all coming back negative. He did give some medicine. Why does he still have go to the neurologist, eye doctor etc when its clear to me his problems are from lyme diseas???

They probably want to make sure there's nothing else going on too. It's not a bad idea.

Suz, I'm not a dr.
I see a eye spec. for my lyme so she checks in my eyes for THAT disease showing up there as well as my diabetes for retinopathy showing up where I could lose my vision.
Neurologist...bell's palsy, your friend has. I have sleep APNEA too, and see this dr. for that. Many other illnesses come into the picture. It's NOT just lyme since it mimics 300 other illnesses. Good luck to your friend, and glad she has you looking out for her.

Hi Suz.
I would be comforted by the fact that Dr. J. is so thorough. The concerns he wants to lay to rest with your friend were not likely an issue when treating your young son.
My own LLMD was similarly thorough. While it's easy to assume "everything is Lyme," we shouldn't bank on that.
I had a little eye test at the walk-in place at Walmart to check my inter-ocular pressure. They take a little picture of your retina! Poof - a little puff of air! Smile! The picture showed a very weird but large thing in my right eye. Even the eye doc there admitted he had never seen anything like it and didn't know what it was.
My vision was going to the pits since getting Lyme. My LLMD reviewed my brain MRI, spinal tap stuff, evoked potentials stuff, then he came across that 8x10 color picture of my eye. He said, 'What in the world is that THING IN YOUR EYE?'
I said, 'I dunno... The eye doctor at Walmart didn't know what it was.'
He said, 'Get to a retinal specialist RIGHT NOW.'
So I went. It was an 'amelanotic nevus' - a huge one, dwarfing my optic nerve many times over. It is being watched on a six month schedule for cancerous changes, which would likely mean "Goodbye, eye." At the least.
So yes, I tested highly positive, CDC positive for Lyme, with multiple brain lesions as well. My LLMD could have easily said, "It's all Lyme. Here, just take these antibiotics."
But I'm extremely grateful he didn't.
