Not sure what to do. I took 1st dose last night with fatty food and this morning was sicker than a dog. Being in a wheelchair only, I made a mess with vomit and poop. Not really sure what to do- do I take another dose and have a repeat of this morning? The thought of that is not pleasant! My LLMD is hard to reach- so I'm asking for help fromm you kind folks. Thanks.

I took 1 tsp with a fatty meal and my 2 zithromax. I have been taking the zithromax for 4 weeks and was then supposed to start the mepron. Do you guys think I should take another dose?????

You might try taking a much smaller dose, say one-quarter teaspoon and gradually build up. This is not a medical opinion, just a thought based on what I've read others on here have done.

What is the dose of zith? My son takes 250mg with mepron in am and in pm....He also did not get the rash that many have gotten from Mepron so I may have just hit one thing right for him....He is not young so I was wondering if your dosage of zith is higher than his...He is pretty big guy...

Is there a reason you are taking the zith all at one time...I was told to give it with Mepron...

You raise an interesting point about whether or not to take Zith and Mepron together. I thought Zith was best absorbed on an empty stomach so I try to take my 1 - 500 mg pill when I get home from work around 4.
Then I take my 2 doses of Mepron at breakfast and dinner so that I can take them with fat for better absorption. I had been taking milk thistle in the morning, but have stopped due to recent postings about that lessening the absorption of Mepron. I take my probiotics before bed.
It sure gets complicated, doesn't it?

I looked at my son's zith bottle to make sure and it says you can take with or without food..
I am positive his doc said he can take Mepron/Zith together.
I must be doing something because he has been happier on it with the exception of the two extreme herx's he has had so far...
I give him probiotic in am, mid day (if I can fit it in) and bedtime.....far away from abx's...
I also give magnesium at night and would like to increase this to morning also but I am having a hard time with schedule away from abx's and his weekly schedule....

Hi earthsong Maybe it was the fatty meal that upset your stomach?
I take my mepro with one teas. extra virgin coconut oil & one teasp olive oil. If I eat fatty meals with my meds it can make my stomach upset.
Just a thought.
Take care

Oh boy- after I posted yesterday, I became really ill. Had a fever & with my body, a fever makes me go completely paralyzed. I was ready to call an ambulance just so I'd have someone to take care of me, but then a strong friend came and got me to the toilet when needed. Very very scary to go completely paralyzed!!!! Today I am much better and am terrified of taking the mepron again. I think I will wait til tonight and then just do 1/2 tsp with olive oil. I'm still wondering if I could have a herx from just 1 dose or if I had a stomach flu. My roomate had a stomach flu 3 days before, so it is a possibility. How does one know????? This is all so scary and complicated! Thanks.

I wouldnt take ANY more Mepron until you can reach your LLMD. It may have NOTHING to do with the MEpron, but why force it now?
You would be better to just stick with the Zith and see if this is a flu or anything else.
Then in a week or so start the mepron again.
Slow and steady wins the race.
No need to rush into this.
You should be spacing the zith out-not taking it 1Xday. It does have a long half life, but it is better to space out. You can take it with or without the mepron. With or without food too. It is absorbed better on the empty stomach, but it is not necesarry.
Not a doc, just was on mepron/zith for several months and been dealing with lyme diagnosis since 1991. good luck, keep us posted! Trails

Thanks for the advise. It is very much appreciated! I'll wait on the mepron until I talk to my LLMD. It's not like I'm in a hurry to try that stuff again I don't know what I would have done without having you guys to run things off of. Thanks for being there!

I tried taking mepron last fall. Did 1 tsp per day for 10 days and each time about an hour after taking it, my stomach would go into violent spasms and I would get really tired and spaced out and go into a coma like sleep for an hour or two in the middle of the afternoon. I stopped taking it after the 10th day when I couldn't bend over to eat my dinner because my stomach was so tender.
I am pretty sure I don't have babesia at this point.
