Hi folks. I'm new to this board. I've been in treatment for Lyme and babesia for a little over a year. I've read the recent post about light sensitivities and disturbances. I have light sensitivity so severe that I cannot go outside except on overcast days and even then I need to wear arctic sunglasses with side blinders. Can't go out at night because of headlights. I can walk outside a bit at dusk. Inside we keep the light very low and have blackout shades. If someone opens and outside door or there is a crack in the curtains with a strip of light it can feel like a '50s movie with x-rays searing my brain. None of my Lyme symptoms are fun but this is the one that does me in. Is there anyone out there that is experiencing this level of light sensitivity? I have had my eyes checked out my a neuro-opthamologist that has experience with Lyme. My eyes check out okay so it is happening in the brain. Also we have figured out good sources for arctic sunglasses, modified eyemasks (for doctor trips, etc.) visors... and would be happy to pass info along. Thanks!

YES, I have what you have! Are you on doxy too? That made my extreme eyes 200% MORE sensitive than they we were earlier.

I learned a lot about eye sensitivity/lighting on www.marshallprotocol.com board. Look for AUSSIE BARB'S EAST FINDER and then eyes/sunglasses, etc. Wealth of info there.

I ordered the NOIR sunglasses. www.noir.net or .com If you call the 1-800 no. mention you have lyme and marshall protocol, they will give you 20% off! Also they have been kind enough to replace the SCRATCHED LENSES & BROKEN BOWS! How's that.

I don't drive often at night, but I can wear NOIR's 901 lenses at night while driving; it creates soft candle lights coming at me...tolerable. NOT to wear in town with all the action of people crossing where they shouldn't be, etc.

YES, please share what you have for glasses, etc. If it isn't in TREEPATROL'S NEWBIE LINKS, I know he'll add it. He's so accommodating.
It's at TOP of medical 1st screen.

I'll come back later to give you more info. Glad you found us.

Welcome to this 24/7 LYME support group board!
Here's TREEPATROL's and tincup's combination newbie links.
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/029917.html

Print off the links then check them off as you read as you could spend several months reading all of this.

print & read Dr. Barrascono's 2005 info first; you will come back to this often.

Also, see Cheryl's extensive web sites on: LD DIAGNOSIS, SYMPTOMS, & TREATMENT ... wonderful! Read the area on CO-INFECTIONS! You could have from 1-12 other illnesses that tick is carrying...lyme, malaria, etc.

If you are showing symptoms of co-infections, I would like to suggest being tested for co-infections when you have LYME western blots done. It isn't cheap!! But if you are positive, you can treat the co-infections first, and then work on LYME symptoms.

My son had severe light sensitivity, wearing sunglasses in the house on cloudy days, etc.

Eventually, after the treatment took hold it cleared up. I'm sure your's will as well.

I used to wear not just one, but three pairs of sunglasses, one on top of the other. That's not usually a regular in Washington State. It was also painful. Mostly bartonella and babesia caused.

It's all in the past after the right treatment.

Take care.

I had this for 3 months. Then one day it went away. Dr couldnt figure it out...went to an opthamologist.......if you do this I will warn you the lights will really hurt your eyes.....i cried thru mine...then a few weeks later no eye problems. It was so odd.

I had to wear sunglassed everywhere in stores etc.....and i had vivid vision which made me so sick. I also had to turn my monitor screen way down.

My eye problem was replaced with bladder problems that have been with me ever since.

Hi Trooper,

I had this symptom very bad. It went on for over a year. I had to wear sunglasses in my house, very seldom left the house during the day because of the sun.

I rarely even turned on lamps in the house because the brightness would bother me. Had to keep the shades in all the rooms closed all the time. I had to turn my computer monitor way dark and even still had to sit in front of it with sunglasses on.

It took months and months for mine to get better, I found that Zithromax, Acycylovire and Plaquenil worked to get this under control.

I wish you lots of luck, I had the sun/sound/smell sensitivity at the same time it was sure hell. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Good luck, let me know if you need any other info. Barb
