Hey, Rob!
I had an appointment with my LLMD Thursday. I'd taken her a list of my ongoing symptoms -- in descending order, beginning with the ones that are the most troubling.
She immediately said it was clear I have bartonella, even though a previous test result had been negative.
All the symptoms I listed pointed in that direction, she said.
So I'm now on a second antibiotic (rifampin) to treat this.
The first night was beyond hellish but today has been a bit better.
I hadn't wanted to really deal with co-infections before this, but in a strange way, I feel more hopeful now...

I don't understand the "Do I have co-infections?" question.
I don't know the stats for all of them, but will try to start collecting more.
Babesia is an issue in 70% of people with Lyme Disease according to several doctor's presentations that I have listened to lately.
If Babesia is an issue in 70%, and you add bartonella (I have read 40% have Bart), then add Ehrlichia, then add mycoplasma, then the next one and the next one.
The odds are that we all have co-infections. Personally, I do not believe that anyone has just Bb. If they do, they should go buy a lottery ticket.

I didnt have any sx of Babs until I began TREATING for it. FOr some reason, treating it brought the sx to the surface.
I have never heard any one else say this was true for them of any of the Co's, but it was certainly true for me.

The following signs/symptoms may be present in those infected with Babesiosis: Fatigue* Arthralgias* Myalgia* Drenching sweats* Headaches* Emotional lability* Depression* Dark urine* Splenomegaly* Dizziness* Nausea and vomiting* Cough* Dyspnea* Fever* Chills* Hepatosplenomegaly* Jaundice* Malaise* Shortness of breath* Bleeding tendencies, bruising* Thrombocytopenia* Hemoglobinuria* Hyperesthesia* Pulmonary edema* Encephalopathy* Low to normal range leukocyte counts* Possible elevated levels of dehydrogenase, bilirubin, transaminase* Anorexia* Approximately 25%- 66% of Babesia patients are known to be co-infected with Lyme disease. These symptoms may continue for long periods of time, decrease, then return. A low Babesiosis titer (IgG) often indicates a chronic infection. An acute or current infection may show a higher reading on the IgM test initially. There are over 100 species of Babesia in the United States but only ONE or TWO species are currently checked by commercial labs.

The symptoms of all the coinfections are discussed in Dr. K's paper. See the Protocols section of my site below for the links.

Hi, everyone!
I'm definitely no doctor, but here are the symptoms I had for my LLMD. Bartonella, she said. -- nasty headaches -- a lot of cognitive problems (processing information, long-term memory, confusion) -- stuttering and difficulty finding my words -- tight tight bands around my ankles, legs and wrists -- numbness, especially facial numbness but also in my foot.
The LLMD prescribed rifampin for me. The first full day I took it, all the above symptoms were exacerbated.
I also had weird numbness on the back of my arms.
Now, I've got a heckish headache!
Hope this helps! Like Scott said, I am really glad things happened this way. If not, I can imagine I would have never gotten better...and these are nasty symptoms to be left with.
