I am going through Lyme diagnosis. My doctor drew blood and prescribed Ceftin (500mg 2xdaily) and Ketek 400mgx2 daily to test my reactions. I heard about Herx but my reaction is anything but that so far. Would anyone please tell me what does this mean?
3 hours after intial dose of 400mg Ketek and 500mg Ceftin, I felt some pain-tingling sensation on lower back. Then the pain from herniated Lumbar/sacrum disc that plagued me for over 6 months almost disappeared... When I woke up in the next morning, my sinus is clear, dizziness and headaches and the pressure in skull eased, so are other body aches. Within 20 minutes of third dosage, same pain-tingling sensation was felt in my neck...then neck seems less stiff.
Does it mean that I have Lyme? Shouldn't I be feeling much worse before getting better? (I was feeling like DYING before taking the pills) Or is this only initial reactions, then I'll feel worse?
Appreciate your kind advice.

Isn't ketek just the greatest thing since sliced bread? The big advice with ketek is to take a LOT of liver supplements, since ketek is tough for the body to process. Go for more than just milk thistle, get at least three liver supporters, like NAC and phosphatidylcholine.
Herxes have a tendency to hit people somewhere between Day Four and Week Two. If you are still in the danger range, it's a good idea to stick close to home, as herxes can come out of the blue.

Luvs, each of us reacts differently depending on the amount of time lyme has been within us and the co-infections.
I was misdx for 34 years, and on abx: doxy and biaxin since 8-04. I immediately had reactions:
my right arm felt like I was a punching bag and has been like that for 24/7 since then. That's the side I sleep on so it's awful plus having my right hand go numb/pain!
My face was burning up, dizziness, etc.
I've going to provide the newbies links, etc. You can read all about herx symptoms there ok.
Here's TREEPATROL's and tincup's combination newbie links.
Print off the links then check them off as you read as you could spend several months reading all of this.
print & read Dr. Barrascono's 2005 info first; you will come back to this often.
Also, see Cheryl's extensive web sites on: LD DIAGNOSIS, SYMPTOMS, & TREATMENT ... wonderful! Read the area on CO-INFECTIONS! You could have from 1-12 other illnesses that tick is carrying...lyme, malaria, etc.
If you are showing symptoms of co-infections, I would like to suggest being tested for co-infections when you have LYME western blots done. It isn't cheap!! But if you are positive, you can treat the co-infections first, and then work on LYME symptoms.
