Hi everyone,

Just wondering who here gets a lot of muscle twitching? I seem to get it all over and it is worse when i am tired.

Would love to hear that this not just me with these crazy twitches!!!

Hi Lesley

I used to get terrible muscle twitches and spasms, so intense that they would wake me up in the middle of the night. Since supplementing with magnesium they have diminished by 90%.

Ditto. Magnesium citrate, 400mg/day. Although we're supposed to keep quiet about brands, Solgar worked the best for me.

Used to get restless legs that woke me up from dead sleep. Also had facial twitching for months on end. Especially in one eye.

I too take magnesium. Don't have any twitching anymore.

Magnesium is the normal recommendation. I had somebody tell me once that calcium helped his twitching.

I've personally noticed a connection between twitching and aspartame/nutrasweet. However, if I'm drinking diet soda it's usually because I'm stressed and over-tired. So that could be the real cause.

I have always had some sort of twitch somewhere in my body. It is rotten when Restless Leg is also a contributer. Does stretching help?
Hope your nuero system slows down.

constantly.

Have found no correlation with anything except worse when flaring or herxing.

have tried everything including lotsa magnesium.

Only thing that helps is valium at bedtime. Not recommened for maintenance therapy.

I also live with this constantly, and last night had a particularly nasty siege.

I do take magnesium, as well as calcium.

Saw the LLMD on Thursday and she dx me with Bartonella and prescribed rifampin.

Considering all the things I've read about this on the board and the experience I had last night (twitching, stuttering, throwing up), I am just waiting to see what's next.

Mostly, what I feel like I'm left with now is a lot of neuro stuff, so hopefully, in the end, this will address it.

Hope you're able to get some relief.

Andie

Lesley, yes, but I've been taking BACLOFEN, a muscle relaxer for MS & spinal cord injuries for 7_+ years.

It was my hip popping out; I'd have to hang onto the walls.

I never started twitching until I had my first herx. Now I twitch every time. I was off abx for a while and recently re-started 2 of 3 and started twitching right off.

I was in so much pain that I went to have a Watsu (underwater massage) twice this week. The first time, it went pretty much as usual. When I went back for another one on Friday, I more or less just floated and had gentle stretching. The practitioner told me my body was telling him to "lay off" and leave me alone. Every time he touched a different spot, I just about jumped out of my skin. But the water felt wonderfu.!

I have had muscle twitching for over 3 years...primarily in my calf muscles. In fact this one one of my first symptoms years ago.

I have tried many things to make them go away (magnesium, etc.). I don't think mine are lyme related...although I can't be entirely sure.

I do get them all over and they are worse sometimes when I am tired.

So, no, it is not just you with those crazy twitches!

For those of you not getting relief from muscle twitching by taking magnesium I would try the powder form of magnesium mixed in hot water.

I have a digestive absorption problem (Candida) so the magnesium citrate capsules don't work as well as the magnesium dissolved in hot water. I sip it like tea.

It settles my muscle twitching, my shooting pain down my legs and my irregular heartbeat.

If you take too much it causes diahrrea. I'd rather have the diahrrea than the other symptoms anyday.

Yup I get them. Especially in my left leg. They have gotten better since I started the IV's but they are still there.

I didn't notice twitching until recently when I was put on abx for the first time. Don't think I am herxing but twitching becomes daily - last no more than a few seconds and doesn't hurt.

Anyone knows why? Is it part of abx side effects? Racing heart seems to come up too with abx.

I went through a period before I was diagnosed that my twitching was out of control! Of course twitching is never under our control, but this was just way worse than anything I'd ever experienced before.

It's mostly disappeared w/abx treatment, thank God!
