Hi All
I saw so many responses from my previous post that I decided to start a new topic.
I was taking the Amoxicillin, but I do not know if this is a herx reaction - I started to feel really woozy and somewhat like I was having a panic attack. Has this happened to anyone taking amoxicillin. I am taking 3000mg.
Actually yesterday and today I have not taken anything. I will start later on again with 1000mg.
Can it cause a very bad herx?? What are your experiences??

Hi,

from what I have learned from being here and in my own life is, that most people will have some herxing, some mild, some bad, some say they never herx, mmmmmmmmmm, maybe so....

I was taking Amox. 1500mgs a day...I had baby herxes compared to the ones I have had with the Tetracycline, same dosage.

You will most likely herx, so just take the meds to help yourself and dont worry about every little pain or symptom, some sypmtoms may be caused from somethings else.

I am on Amox 3,000mg PLUS probeneicd which makes it really more like 6,000mg but WHATEVER....

My herx two weeks ago has it's own thread but here are some of the highlights:
--------------------------------------------
But my entire body is ON FIRE. My lower half feels like there are things ripping my flesh off. Then I get those pin pricks at the bottom of my feet. Then my razor blades in my arms start cutting thru muscle. I cant lay down b/c the pressure on my thighs feels like it is going to implode them. WHen I walk it HURTS in the outer thigh muscles b/c of the movement.

The pain is unbelievable! I never had this before. I mean sooooo very much pain and so varied. Except for lyme headaches and those are the worst pain of all---even worse than this---I will never ever forget that.
-----------------------------------------------
I stopped all meds for 7 days. It took about 4 to feel serious improvement in pain levels.

So my herx on AMoxy was characterized by PAIN. Not so much what you have been experiencing.

HOWEVER, I have had herxes like you are describing while on OTHER meds. I thought that type of herx was more realted to Babesia than Lyme then. I actually lost consciousness and was ambulanced to ER from work. Panic attack like feelings were present throught and last for almost 2 weeks! This was on Mepron/Zith.

Sounds like slowing down is what you need to do. I hope you get some rest tonight,
Trails

Hi Mispy, I too am on amox. for the last 4 wks. Started with 3 wks at 1500/day and just upped it to 2000/day this wk.Trying to get to 3000.

I too have the woozy feeling, burning etc. What is scaring me is my entire left side from head to toe every once in awhile feels like I'm having a stroke. All going buzzy and numbing.

I finished 4 months of zith/mepron for babs and feel like the babs symptoms might be coming back(sweats) Hoping it's all herxing but the weird stroke stuff is scary. Does anyone know if one "master" nerve can cause numbness tingles/buzzing on one entire side of the body

from head/face to toe? Very weak and wobbly when this happens too. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone with this..I'm sharing the "fun", kt

Krazy--Yes, there is one "master nerve" Well actually there are two.

The one in your upper body is the VAGUS nerve and the one in your lower is the SCIATIC nerve.

When I had months of Physical Therapy for the pain I was having that included buzzing and tingling and sharp shooting pains--my PT explained a lot of this to me.

Lyme can damage the nerve roots...where the nerves begin at the spine. If a nerve is damaged (or being triggered by Lyme abnormally) at it's root--then the pain or strange sensations can and will be felt ANYWHERE along the length of the nerve.

Nerve pain is very hard to understand and to get relief from. You can have this terrible pain in you finger tips but the "root" of your pain actually lies somewhere in your neck.

I am currently having very similar symptoms as you describe as far as the buzzing while I continue to take Amoxy.
Hope this helps,
Trails

thanks Trails, I just thought there was no "one" nerve that could trigger a response from the back of my head and all down one side of a body...eccept for a stroke of course (and I don't need that!Gee, what next! kt
