I looked up the possible warnings on artemisinin and it said it could cause mis-carriage if pregnant.

If this is the case could it also cause uterine bleeding?

Any ladies out there on artemisinin have break through bleeding while taking this?

Hi
I know on Mepron that my periods seem to go out of sync, too early or too late. Maybe any strong med can cause this?

From Lyme itself sometimes I have had breakthrough bleeding. If it continues see your LLMD.

take care
Emma

I have been having spotting but am not taking artemisinin. I am scheduled for some tests with my gyno as he is concerned about the spotting (not just at midcycle).

I would suggest you get checked out to be safe.

Could be Lyme or it could be something else. Both the spotting and bladder spasms I have could be Lyme but they are also symptoms of cancer or polyps.

Hi Dana,

I self medicated with art for about 4 months--I thought it helped make my periods shorter and not as heavy.

It gave me my personality back.

NOT a lady, but my 2 cent worth.

It is not a contraindication of Artemisinin, but IF it does such, the recommended RED ROOT will take care of it.

And I certainly would NOT take Artemisinin without Red Root tincture. NOT good.

That would be like drinking a lot of water to help if you have dehydration and then NOT urinating to get rid of the excess water. Ugh!

I just started spotting during the 3rd week of my cycle, something that has never happened before.

I have been taking Artemisinin 1 pill 3x a day for about a month. I just started taking Red Root so don't know if this has contributed or not to the issue.

I did start spotting on a really stressful day.

I'm into month two of mepron zith and my last period came early.

Question for all of you, what dosage of artemisinin did you take and what is the recommended minimum length of time?

Where does one get the Red Root tincture? Is there a brand that is best?

Thanks all.

Could somebody tel what Red Root is? A latin name would help. I often take Artemesia annua ( the Nutribiotic Plus formula) and I would like to know more about possible harm it might do and what to do to balance that.

Thanks

I got my Red Root tincture from myvitanet.com to tide me over till the tincture I am making is "ripe". Which will be in a few days.

Red Root is an american herb.(Ceanothus americanus).

You can buy it in bulk from Starwest Botanicals and make your own tincture with Vodka; or grain alchohol and water.

Since artemisinin isn't regulated like a medicine, there really isn't good control of the dosage. Honestly, my LLMD guessed. I don't remember what I took.

I was on it for about 5 months I think. Until babesia symptoms subsided.

Aniek:

I guess you could be on it a longgggg time like that IF you take a low dose, BUT I sure would NOT do that much time on the high doses recommended.

I took 600mg a day, divided up into three doses for about two weeks.

Now I have been off it for almost two weeks. When my two weeks of being off is up, I will go on it for three days, (3), at 1200mg a day. Then STOP. You could stop for two weeks and then hit again for three more days at the 1200mg a day IF you feel it is necessary.

Do NOT forget to take plenty of Red Root tincture along WITH the artemisinin though, or you could get into big trouble. Probably about 90 drops, three times a day in water or juice would do it. This should keep your lymph system clear and working properly so you don't get deathly sick.

JimBob,

I'be been off Artemisinin for months. I had never heard of Red Root, but never had problems with anything while on it.

I just checked my old bottles, I think I was taking 300 mg a day.

You evidently were one of the very fortunate ones. Course you were on a low dosage of the Artemisinin. Even so, that was roulette.

But I sure would NOT chance it. Not knowing what I know today, and also the problems I have had with my system on abx and also how the Lyme affects MY system.

But then some people are bigger gamblers than others. Some get by with murder, others do not.

Maybe IF you had read up on herbs, before you used the herb extract, Artemisinin, you would have heard of Red Root. It is American.
